Our nation’s democratic system functioned last night and we have a new President-elect.  All Americans are bound, whether we like the outcome or not, to accept the results of our elections. We now have a special responsibility, as citizens of the greatest nation on earth, to do everything we can to support and defend our Constitution, preserve the rule of law, and ensure that our institutions hold over these coming four years. Citizens across this country, our courts, members of the press and those serving in our federal, state and local governments must now be the guardrails of democracy.

The result of the election will not take away from the fact that @JoeBiden returned dignity, decency, and compassion to the Oval Office. He is a patriot in the truest sense who embodies what it means to put #CountryOverParty … he is one of the greatest President’s in history.

@dprzygoda Stop equating Biden’s greatness with him stepping aside. FU! Biden’s accomplishments are on par with FDR - succeeding in this toxic political environment. I’m grateful to Biden for so many reasons but stepping isn’t one them. I wanted four more years.

@Taniel My goodness. Get abortion out of your minds. Trump has said he wouldn’t sign a national abortion ban about a million times now. Most Senate Republicans have said they wouldn’t vote for a national abortion ban. 60 votes required in the Senate. It’s literally impossible.

Iowa had abortion protected by its state courts. Then, just *days* before Dobbs, the Iowa's state supreme court struck that right down. The GOP passed a 6-week abortion ban. It was upheld by the state supreme court this summer. This is the first election since that ruling.
