They aren't actually trying to solve your heavy problems. ​They are throwing generic, Instagram-quote platitudes at you because your raw reality is making them deeply uncomfortable, and they need the heavy conversation to end immediately. ​It is just a polite way of saying, "Your sadness is ruining my mood, please package it back up and hide it so we can go back to having fun." ​If your pain cannot be fixed with a quick motivational speech or a distraction, modern friendships have absolutely no idea what to do with you. You are entirely on your own
