From a Russian-speaking Ukrainian civilian in Kharkiv whose home russia burned on March 6: “On March 6, the not-so-great Russian army burned down my apartment — during one of the most brutal air raids in the first days of the war on my native Kharkiv. That night the city was ablaze in such a way that the fire brigades couldn’t keep up with putting out the flames — mostly residential neighborhoods were burning. They reached us a couple of hours later. Even if they had arrived five minutes earlier, they would have seen flames bursting out of every window many meters upward — the high-rise looked like an enormous torch. Fortunately, my daughter wasn’t in the apartment at that moment — she missed the explosion by some 20–30 minutes. The children said: “They burned our childhood”… Our beloved cat Nyusha perished; the photo/video archives of the children and of Kharkiv’s literary life from 2007–2022 burned (300–400 GB); a library of several generations — roughly 3–5 thousand books — burned. Our pre-war life burned… The apartment door turned out to be sturdy — installed conscientiously — it withstood the blast and saved the neighbors’ family who were hiding behind it in the shared corridor… …… three black windows: the right one — my son’s window, in the middle — my daughter’s window, on the left — the kitchen cat window Of all of them, only Nyusha did not survive — the cat alone took death for everyone that night: black soot and char on the outside walls seems to be spreading even now, as if the cat’s soul, still unable to believe in such a death, is trying to escape this hell a cluster bomb left a crater in the courtyard exactly in the place where I used to walk the little ones to the playground, and from the benches came the grumbling: “Need to wrap the kids up better, or they’ll catch a cold in the draft” now the early-spring draft sings a lullaby to the dead (un)home where all the photo albums of all generations have been burned when my children’s grandchildren ask to be shown a photo of my grandfather, who defeated fascism in ’45, they will hear: “there are no photographs of great-great-grandfather, the fascists burned them…

Russia smashed this house in Kharkiv with a missile tonight. Four people are dead. Others may still be under the rubble. Will this make the headlines today?

See those yellow routes? Those are Shahed drones. Russia was stockpiling them and missiles for another massive attack on Ukraine. Kharkiv, Kyiv, Odesa, Chernivtsi near the Moldovan border. While eyes are on the Middle East, Russia strikes again.

The Hungarian government stole money belonging to clients of a Ukrainian state bank in broad daylight — and proudly posted photos of the robbery. It feels more like russian standards than European ones. Or did I miss something?

Rescuers pulled the bodies of a 13-year-old girl and a boy from the rubble after Russia’s missile strike. The death toll is now seven. Russia killed these children in their beds.

Since last night, work has been ongoing to clear the rubble of a residential building in Kharkiv following a Russian ballistic missile strike. A whole section was destroyed, and the upper floors of a neighboring building were damaged. Unfortunately, as of now, it is known that 7 people have been killed. More than 10 people have been injured, including children. People may still be trapped under the rubble. All necessary services are working at the scene for the rescue operation. Russia used 29 missiles, nearly half of them ballistic, and 480 drones, most of them “shaheds,” against Ukraine. They targeted energy infrastructure in Kyiv, the Khmelnytskyi and Chernivtsi regions, and the railway in the Zhytomyr region. Damage has been reported in the Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Vinnytsia, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, and Cherkasy regions. Relevant services are working wherever necessary. There must be a response from partners to these savage strikes against life. I thank everyone who will not remain silent. Russia has not abandoned its attempts to destroy Ukraine’s residential and critical infrastructure, and therefore support must continue. The PURL initiative must continue to operate just as actively. We count on active work with the European Union to guarantee greater protection for our people. I am grateful to everyone who helps strengthen our protection.

A horrific scene. Russia struck a residential building in Kharkiv, killing at least seven civilians, including two children. First responders continue to search for people under the rubble. Russia is a terrorist state. There can be no easing of restrictions against Russian murderers while they continue to kill Ukrainian children in their sleep. No easing of sanctions or bans at international sports and culture events. The regime in Moscow not only terrorizes Ukraine, but it also spreads terror throughout the world. It helps Iran murder and destroy. It strengthens the DPRK and its ability to threaten the region. Pressure on Russia must be increased in order to restore a lasting peace for Ukraine and for the sake of international peace and security.

Oh, oh, there we go -- I’m starting to understand the rules of this game. So apparently Orban is totally allowed to: - undermine sanctions and European aid to Ukraine for years while it fights a gigantic war of national survival, - throw around threats and call Ukraine a “buffer zone,” - call for cutting off assistance to Ukraine and for its surrender to Russia, - plaster all of Hungary with insulting propaganda billboards about Ukraine and Zelensky, - finance Russia’s war against Ukraine by buying Russian oil while rejecting any alternatives for years, - swear that he will never allow Ukraine into the EU or NATO, - whip up anti-Ukrainian hysteria in Hungary amid elections and spam Twitter with anti-Ukraine propaganda slop 24/7, - openly and publicly call Ukraine “an enemy of Hungary," - undermine Ukraine’s territorial integrity in Transcarpathia and Crimea, - kidnap Ukrainian cash-in-transit guards and seize the property they were transporting for Ukrainian banks. But GOD FORBID that, after years of all this vile behavior, angry and fed-up Zelensky makes an awkward joke about Orban’s belly and says he’d like to give his phone number to Ukrainian soldiers so they can tell him what they think of him -- that’s a horrifying DEATH THREAT and completely UNACCEPTABLE!!!

“We can also give a ceasefire for Russians if they will do elections in Russia.” Unlike Ukraine, russia can technically do elections without ceasefire. Unlike Ukraine, russia can’t actually elect anyone but one person. No matter the circumstances.

Kaja Kallas: The greatest threat Russia presents right now is that it gains more at the negotiation table than it has achieved on the battlefield. Russia is no superpower. After more than a decade of conflict, including four years of full-scale war in Ukraine, Russia has barely advanced beyond the 2014 lines. And the cost? 1.2 million casualties. Today, Russia is broken. Its economy is in shreds. It is disconnecting from the European energy markets, and its own citizens are fleeing.
