@BethRigby The role of journalism/journalists is to hold those with most power in public Office to account, to be a watchdog on behalf of the public, to shine the spotlight on scandal With respect, when soft ball questions are presented journalism looks like a marketing arm for government

Keir Starmer: "I have been clear I'm not going to join the war" US bombers are taking off from the UK to bomb Iran & Britain is engaged in blocking Iranian retaliation after being attacked. Starmer is treating us like fools.

Some MPs are expensive, but some MPs are more expensive than others There is a simple truth in British politics. MPs are expensive. They have staff, offices, travel, accommodation, security, and expenses. Running a parliamentary democracy costs money. Most people understand that. But what people struggle to understand is why some politicians always seem to cost far more than others, and why the people who constantly talk about austerity and “tough decisions” never seem to experience any tough decisions themselves. Take the Prime Minister. @Keir_Starmer’s 39 foreign trips have cost British taxpayers around £4.2 million in less than two years. That is an extraordinary amount of public money on travel in such a short period of time. But this didn’t start when he became Prime Minister. When Starmer was Director of Public Prosecutions, he was already running up significant expenses at public cost: Over £160,000 on chauffeur-driven cars in London Business and first class flights across the world Nearly £20,000 on flights to Washington DC His successor ran the same office with travel costs less than a third of his Starmer earned around £1 million in salary over five years And built up a very large public pension And then there is something that almost sounds unbelievable until you actually look it up. There is a piece of UK legislation called: The Pensions Increase (Pension Scheme for Keir Starmer QC) Regulations 2013. Yes, that is the actual title. legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2013/2588… A statutory instrument specifically covering the pension scheme created for him when he left as Director of Public Prosecutions, ensuring his pension increases with inflation like senior judicial pensions. Most people don’t have a pension. Some people have a pension. Very few people have a pension scheme with their name in legislation. So yes, MPs are expensive. But the real problem isn’t that MPs cost money. The real problem is that the people who run the country seem to live in a completely different economic reality to the people who live in the country. Or to put it another way: All MPs are expensive, but some MPs are more expensive than others... #starmer

WESTMINSTER Labour announce £millions to fix roads, not Scotland's, and not Blighty's local potholes UKGov has announced a massive £27 billion investment (partly made up of taxes from Scotland) into Blighty's Strategic Motorway Network. This will be used to “upgrade and future-proof” England's motorways and major A-roads. 'Future Proof' - good old England, looking after Number One. Spread across five years, the cash comes as part of the previously announced Road Investment Strategy 3. It will mainly focus on roughly five-and-a-half thousand miles of road managed by England's National Highways, and not by local authorities – although a tiny portion of the cash will support some locally managed schemes. Alongside general motorway resurfacing and pothole repairs, the Department for Transport says the investment will also bring improvements for several areas to bolster safety and traffic flow. The example gived include the A66 that connects Cumbria and North Yorkshire will be transformed from a single carriageway to a dual-carriageway between Junction 40 for the M6 and Junction 53 for the A1(M). Ageing bridges on the M6 built in the 1960s will also be renewed, while the funding also includes cash to add to the private investment for the new Lower Thames Crossing, which will eventually connect Kent and Essex. Colonialism - a one-way street. You take from your territories and use for your Roman city improvements.

This is why no one trusts Wes Streeting. He tells his friend Peter Mandelson in private Israel have committed war crimes, while in public making divisive dog whistling comments about people who have the courage to stand against those war crimes. middleeasteye.net/news/wes-stree…

The Guardian has now reported it. But even though footage clearly shows him verbally abusing the journalists, they’ve reduced it to “apparent involvement” in the sub-heading.

“You are a newspaper aligned with the Nationalist cause” A quote from Stephen Jardine on @BBCRadioScot on his Mornings show just after 9 this morning to @shonacraven He’s set a precedent to reveal the political leaning of every journalist he interviews He won’t of course do it !
MSM Monitor@msm_monitor

Would Stephen Jardine highlight the British nationalism of a newspaper if one of its reporters was on his show? Of course he wouldn't. Would he have a wee dig and a wee sly laugh? Of course he wouldn't. Why then did he do it with Shona Craven this morning?
