הסיבה שהתמונה בשער השבועון האיטלקי שפורסמה לפני כמה ימים הרטיטה את הלב היהודי, היא הזיכרון הקולקטיבי, והדימיון המבחיל של התמונה הזאת לתעמולה נאצית - נאצית ממש, לא כסופרלטיב. התמונה החדשה משמאל מזכירה לנו את התמונה הוותיקה מימין (שיש עוד רבות כמותה), שהיא חלק מתעמולת “היהודי כמחלל טוהר הגזע”. האסתטיקה ברורה: גבר מכוער, עם איזה שיבוש, מראה מרושע, וחזות יהודית במובנה הלא-מחמיא, מאיים על אישה יפה, תמימה ומאויימת, ומטריד אותה. מה שמעניין עוד יותר בתמונה הימנית, היא שהיא גרועה פחות מהתמונה השמאלית. אינסטנקטיבית, היא מעוררת חלחלה - אבל למעשה, לא קורה בתמונה הזאת דבר. זה פשוט חייל עם מראה לא נעים מחזיק טלפון מול אישה ערבייה צעירה ויפה שנראית מאויימת. אולי יש פה 'מטאפורה על הכיבוש' - אבל בוודאי אין פה תיעוד לפשע. לכן, אם נעמיק בזה, נבין מה עושה התמונה הזאת: היא מעוררת בנו רתיעה פיזית (כי קטנים ועלובים הם, לצערנו, בני האדם ביחס לכיעור), שהופכת לרתיעה ערכית. אמנם בפחות גסות, אבל זאת אותה הטכניקה של הבמאי הנאצי פריץ היפּלר שביים את הסרט "היהודי הנצחי", בו הציג יהודים לצד עכברושים פשוט על מנת לגרום לרתיעה הפיזית להפוך לרתיעה ערכית. שאפו. לצד הקריקטורה של פוליטיקו, שלפחות הוסרה, התעמולה האנטי-ישראלית חושפת את פניה האנטישמיות בבירור.

Florika Liebmann was born in Szeged, Hungary, and went to school there.
In 1944 she was deported to Auschwitz, where she was murdered at the age of 10.
I never met her and have chanced upon her hopeful smile on the @YadVashem victim’s database, a smile with so much hope, so many plans for the future, and so much faith in the world that could be.
I think of the achievements she would have made, the friendships she would have formed, and the family she would have loved. All those cut down by capriciously cruel and murderous hate.
May her memory be a blessing.

Ahead of Yom HaShoah (Israel’s Holocaust Remembrance Day) tonight (IL time), Israel's Central Bureau of Statistics reported that there are currently about 111,000 people living in Israel who are survivors of the Holocaust. The memory of the Holocaust is fading as the years pass. Soon, there will be no more survivors left to give a firsthand account of the horrors of the Shoah. It is therefore our duty to share the story of the Holocaust in honor of those who endured it and for the sake of future generations to come.

Despite controlling Hungary for just 4 months, the Nazis, led by Adolf Eichmann, murdered over 565,000 Hungarian Jews.
437,000 were deported to Auschwitz.
Here are the Jacobs brothers arriving in Auschwitz from Hungary. Hours later, they were murdered by the Nazis & their collaborators.
