Omicron *may* pose a risk of increased severity to children under the age of 18 years. Risk remains *low* in absolute terms but needs to be watched carefully.

Received a letter asking you to take part in our #ReactStudy? By taking one quick and easy test at home, you can contribute to one of the world's biggest #COVID19 monitoring studies, and help us continue to keep communities safer. You can make a difference too. @UKHSA

Cases going up, hospitalisations going up, deaths going up. “Worst public health failure” not just historic, it continues. No surprise - same mask-sceptic at head of UKHSA, no investment in ventilation, govt message is all about individual responsibility not public health. 1/2

One assumption I commonly see on Twitter is that children have not had a serious Covid-19 infection because they did not require inpatient hospital treatment. In my medical practice, we have seen many children who have had a prolonged illness that was treated in the community.

How can schools reduce the spread of Covid-19 even in the colder months? The below 6 clips are from this morning's BBC Breakfast where I, my kids (et al) and the most excellent @RaeSnape show some of the things our Primary school will be doing. Part 1

Children are returning to school against a background of community infection levels 26 times higher than at the same time last year, and with the more transmissible Delta variant. This open letter calls for robust mitigation measures to make schools safe ow.ly/sZSy50G3FNF

COVID discussions still revolve around "two extremes—good health at one end, and hospitalization or death at the other. This ignores the hinterland of disability that lies in between..." no one tells the long-haul COVID story like @edyong209 theatlantic.com/science/archiv…
