As could be expected, her comments were loaded with racist, homophobic, and hateful rhetoric……..from her fans. If you are wondering why the WNBA does not promote Caitlin more……… Promoting Caitlin means promoting THEM……….. If you’re wondering why the WNBA has refused to make Caitlin the face of the league…….. Making Caitlin the face of the league means making THEM the face of the league……. ————————————————- 70% of the players in the WNBA are black. The WNBA was built on the backs of minorities over a period spanning DECADES. Caitlin Clark had ONE awesome INDIVIDUAL rookie season…….while playing for a completely irrelevant .500 team. Caitlin has accomplished jack NOTHING in the WNBA since her rookie year. Her TEAM was losing every other game during that awesome INDIVIDUAL rookie year. Her TEAM is STILL losing every other game TODAY. ———————————————— As a Commissioner, you can’t alienate 80% of your league by elevating the most hateful, racist, and bigoted fan base that ANY American pro sports league has seen in DECADES. I don’t personally dislike Caitlin Clark, but I respect the women who came BEFORE her, and I know that she is not fractionally as talented as her bigoted fans make her out to be. She is NOT Michael Jordan. She is NOT even James Harden. She is actually Trae Young. She shoots a ton of stat padding erratic 3’s, turns the ball over at a high clip, and plays no defense on losing teams….just like Trae. She has done absolutely NOTHING in the WNBA to warrant the level of worship that she receives from the MAGA community, and 80% of her fans are NOT following her for basketball related reasons…..by their own admissions.

A previous business model: When Tiger Woods hit the scene in the PGA. That league took the ball and ran with it. People who had never watched golf before tuned it to watch him in fucking DROVES. You know what the PGA DIDN’T DO??? Make new fans feel like shit because they didn’t give a fuck about Steve Stricker or Colin Montgomery. They didn’t say “you have to learn and respect the history of Jack Nicklaus” or you aren’t a fan. They didn’t say “I know you’re here for Tiger, but you really need to care about Vijay Singh”. All of that happened organically….over time. They embraced the rocket ship that was Tiger Woods…put him front and center…and gave people what they wanted. And they didn’t worry about hurting the feelings and bruising the egos of their current “stars”. Imagine being a franchise that employed their sport’s version of Tiger Woods, and pissing it away…..
