2027 guard Markell Jasper stepped up in a big way for Nash Central High School, pouring in a game-high 20 points in a win over North Johnston. 6’9 F Jamel McKinley - Cane Bay HS/ @usc2023 2028 was unstoppable at @SCBCA Team Camp last weekend! Against nationally ranked talent from Wilson, N. Augusta, Keenan & Christ Church, Jamel showed why he’s one of SC’s top prospects regardless of class. Buy stock now 📈📈📈

Liberty Christian’s speedy combo guard Miles Davis (6’0 2028) had an impressive weekend at VHSL Live both scoring and creating for teammates. He had games of 20 points, 13 points and 17 points during the weekend. Miles is an aggressive and quick downhill guard who attacks the basket looking to score but also able to draw help and then find the open man. He’s crafty, able to adjust his shot mid air and finish. He embraces contact nicely and has a fantastic touch to score over and around length at the rim. Miles has been a standout on the Big Shots Circuit as well playing for Hill City. Oscar Smith 5’10 2027 Rashaun Newsome mixes quick, slippery drives off the bounce with lethal shot making capacity from all areas! He has blow by ability and slices through traffic and getting to the rim with good regularity. Uses a quick handle and timely hesitations. Most of his scoring comes as an off the ball threat. He moves nicely to find pockets in the defense or beyond the arc for catch and shoot jumpers where he’s near automatic! He reads the floor nicely and plays off the threat of his jumper with his quickness attacking closeouts. Rashaun should be one of the areas scoring leaders next season although Oscar Smith has a number of guys who can score. But he is very capable to be their go to guy! LC Bird 6’0 2027 Shamir Williams @Mir_Williams09 is one of the best shooters and scorers in Virginia! He can take over a game and go on scoring binges where he hits shots from all areas wether contested or not and he just dont miss for long stretches! Shamir is one of the most explosive and lethal three point shot makers in the state. He operates efficiently off the ball, providing floor spacing with his prolific shot making ability while also serving as a very effective secondary ball handler. In fact he seamlessly moves to the lead guard role where he uses his quickness off the bounce, tight handle and basketball IQ as a productive scorer and facilitator. He sprints to his spots and uses screens effectively for quick catch and shoot action. Doesn’t need much time nor space as he has one of the quickest releases you’ll see rendering defenders helpless to effectively contest! He attacks a closeout with quick rips and blur like quickness attacking the rim. Shamir is equally dangerous shooting off the dribble and will also use a quick rip into one and two dribble pull-ups or drive his man down into a text book step back jumper which he also buries with amazing efficiency. Shamir is speedy off the bounce with a quick tight handle. He slices up defenses with quick change of direction moves and crafty footwork. Embraces contact and finishes over and around length and vs contact thanks to his strong frame and body control. As impressive as he is offensively Shamir is also a game changing defender. Quick feet, active and harassing on ball pressure. He can take it away from you in the blink of an eye! Shamir enjoyed a typically sold weekend during VHSL Live knocking down shots at a high rate and in spite of defensive efforts to slow him he hit shots from all areas and got the rim seemingly at will. He is so skilled at getting to his spots, shot ready. So disciplined with his mechanics and so crafty at manipulating defenders and creating space for his shot. He scores around the rim with floaters, quick bursts and inside hand layups, floaters. So crafty with a fantastic touch. Just watching him work is like watching a clinic on playing the guard position! An All District and All Region 6A pick he is undoubtedly one of the best shot creators and shot makers in Virginia! Green Run HS 5’9 2030 Timothy King James is a player to watch! Athletic and rangy guard who hits the catch and shoot jumper and can beat you from behind the arc but is most dangerous as a quick slasher type. King plays off jabs nicely and attacks the basket fearlessly. Crafty footwork and a nice touch finishing in the lane and around the rim. He is scrappy, an excellent leaper who provides rebounding from the guard position. King is also a quick footed, high motor lockdown on ball defender. Intriguing frame suggests length potential. He should develop into an impact player as you can easily see his exciting potential and versatility. King is the cousin of former Green Run star Ashley James and current WNBA Dallas Wings guard Aziaha James. #BigShots #VHSLLive @BigShotsToday @BigShotsGlobal

Green Run 6’2 2029 Brandon Sherfield, Jr had a nice showing at VHSL Live. He does a nice job scoring off the catch around the rim showcasing nice footwork and touch. He is an athletic and versatile wing who impacts the game in the paint as an active rebounder with strong leaping ability and repeat jumping ability. Brandon does a nice job executing high screen and roll action. Sure hands and an athletic finisher. He can also put the ball on the floor making strong moves to the basket from the high post or within the mid range where he shows the ability to get his shot off the bounce. I like his upside!
