Thank you for this and let me explain exactly why I bypassed every other channel.
PSPC exists. The Police Public Complaints Rapid Response Unit exists. The IGP complaints portal exists. I know all of them. I visited some of them in my head before I made my decision.
And then I asked myself one question.
Who investigates the police when you report to the police?
The answer to that question is the reason I went federal.
When you report to the DPO you are reporting to the man who signs that officer's posting. When you report to the IG you are sending a complaint into a bureaucracy that has every incentive to resolve it quietly in favour of the institution. These channels were designed to manage complaints not to resolve them. There is a difference.
The Federal High Court is different because it does not work for the Nigeria Police Force. It works for the Constitution. And the Constitution has already decided in writing exactly what my rights are. Section 34. Section 35. Section 41. These are not opinions. They are not policies that can be reviewed. They are supreme law and even a man in uniform is beneath them.
The moment I filed that suit the matter left the territory of police internal affairs and entered a space where a judge who answers to no commissioner and no IG would read the facts and apply the law.
That is not courage. That is strategy.
Courage suggests I was afraid and acted anyway. I was not afraid. I was informed. And an informed citizen who knows which door to knock on is the one person this system was never designed to handle.
They built all those internal channels specifically so that people like me would exhaust ourselves going in circles and eventually give up.
I refused to enter the circle.
I went straight to the room where the circle has no power.

@TechnicalBben They forget the struggle the moment they escape it. Calling a Nigerian "lazy" is just a cheap way for them to feel like they earned 100% of their success without any help or timing.

A few years ago, some of the things happening in my life right now only existed in my imagination.
This is why I’ll never mock anyone trying to change their life.
Keep going.
Keep learning.
Keep taking yourself seriously.
Your current reality can look completely different in a very short time when the opportunity finally meets you prepared.💜
