It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our teammate Ed Delporte. After a long and brave battle with pancreatic cancer, Ed passed away the morning of June 3, 2025. Ed was one of Ed Carpenter Racing’s original employees and has been with the team since its first race. Not only was he a talented electronics engineer, he was a tremendous teammate and an integral part of our ECR family. A true historian of the sport, he attended 13 Indianapolis 500s before working 30. This year was his 31st and we are honored he was able to help us prepare for one more 500. Rest easy, Ed.
It’s 9:18 p.m. on the Wednesday night of #Indy500 week. I get a text from @IMS President @jdouglas4 asking what HE can do for ME to help @WWTRaceway , our fans affected by our race time change and to help us in promoting the @BommaritoAuto 500 on June 14-15. Think about that for a minute… the guy running the biggest event in the WORLD is thinking about our race in 3 weeks. That speaks volumes about his dedication to racing. I hope he doesn’t mind me sharing this story but it’s good to know the guy at the head of the greatest track gets it. Thank you Doug for the professional and personal friendship.
