Some Howard County residents say they’ve reached their breaking point after years of golf balls damaging their homes in an Elkridge neighborhood. Neighbors living near The Timbers at Troy Golf Course say golf balls have shattered windows, damaged siding and patios, and even landed dangerously close to family members. One homeowner says a ball crashed through a window while his daughter and her friend were sitting nearby. Residents say they’ve asked Howard County for solutions, including protective netting, but so far, no action has been taken. They say they’re open to other options and just want to feel safe in their homes again. A Bolton Hill woman says she fought off an intruder who broke into her home and was standing over her bed early Friday morning. The woman says she woke up around 3 a.m. to find the stranger inside her bedroom before the situation turned violent. She says she eventually grabbed a decorative knife from the wall and scared the man out of the home. Surveillance video shows that moment, as well as the moments before he entered the home. Police say a substitute school bus attendant in Maryland has been arrested following an investigation into the sexual assault of multiple students on a school bus. Hagerstown police say they were alerted by Washington County Department of Social Services on Thursday, after reports of inappropriate contact. Surveillance video reviewed with Washington County Public Schools allegedly showed the suspect, identified as 71-year-old Michael Sowers of Hagerstown, assaulting three children between the ages of 5 and 9. Officials say all of the victims are considered special needs students. Sowers was taken into custody at his home on Friday. Police say the investigation remains ongoing, and they believe there may be additional victims. A developmentally disabled woman in Maryland gave birth after it was discovered she had been raped, according to court filings and investigators. The incident took place while she was in the care of Dominion Resource Center on York Road. The victim’s family has filed a lawsuit against the group home operator and state agencies, alleging negligence in care and supervision. The assault was discovered when the victim was taken to the hospital in the Fall of 2024 with abdominal swelling and pain. Police say the case remains under investigation, and no arrests have been announced. A 38-year-old man was stabbed after being approached by a group of juveniles near Baltimore’s Inner Harbor Friday night, according to police. Officers responded to the 300 block of Light Street around 11:20 p.m., where the victim was found suffering from stab wounds and a head injury. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
