A Tulsa pastor and his wife have been charged with animal cruelty after authorities say more than 25 animals were found living in filth inside their home, along with a deceased cat. Officers reported overwhelming odors, trash, spilled food, and feces throughout the house. The couple said they were operating a rescue, but authorities say conditions were unsafe, and the animals have since been removed. In February, neighbors in Rochester reported dogs left outside in extreme winter weather, and advocates documented “deplorable” conditions on Sherman Street, where several dogs were found injured or dead. Earlier in March, another dog was found dead in freezing temperatures. Then this week, on March 23, 58 Chihuahuas were rescued from a hoarding situation in Yates, NY, many of them pregnant — evidence of uncontrolled breeding.
