«Nelle ultime settimane ho viaggiato attraverso l'Europa incontrando membri di parlamenti, governi e media. Il mio viaggio aveva un solo obiettivo: essere la voce di milioni di iraniani tenuti in ostaggio sotto il dominio della Repubblica Islamica, il suo terrore e i suoi blocchi a internet; milioni di iraniani le cui voci sono state messe a tacere.
Ma ora posso affermare con certezza che questo silenzio, questa censura, viene esercitata non solo dal regime iraniano, ma anche dai media internazionali, in particolare da quelli europei. Pertanto, voglio rivolgermi direttamente al popolo europeo. Nelle ultime due settimane ho tenuto due conferenze stampa: una a Stoccolma e l'altra ieri a Berlino. Più di 150 giornalisti hanno partecipato a queste due sessioni. Abbiamo parlato per più di due ore. E in quelle due ore, nessuno di quei 150 giornalisti mi ha chiesto dei 40.000 iraniani massacrati nelle strade del mio paese l'8 e il 9 gennaio.
Nessuno dei 150 giornalisti mi ha chiesto dei 19 prigionieri politici giustiziati nelle ultime due settimane. Quando ho detto loro che 20 prigionieri politici sono attualmente condannati a morte, nemmeno uno di quei 150 giornalisti me ne ha parlato. Quando mi sono trovato accanto a una madre il cui figlio è stato ucciso e a un padre il cui figlio è stato assassinato l'8 e il 9 gennaio, e ho chiesto loro di raccontare le loro storie, nessuno dei 150 giornalisti europei ha posto loro una sola domanda.
Qui, nel cuore di un continente che afferma di difendere i diritti umani, la giustizia e la dignità umana, i suoi giornalisti hanno completamente abbandonato la loro responsabilità professionale e persino la loro neutralità morale. Mi è chiaro che quei giornalisti si preoccupano poco dei 40.000 coraggiosi e innocenti miei compatrioti che sono stati massacrati nella lotta per la libertà.
Sembra che siano più interessati a criticare l'America e a chiedersi perché l'America e Israele abbiano rimosso una dittatura che massacra il nostro popolo da 47 anni, invece di criticare il regime che commette questi massacri. Sembrano più interessati a mettere in discussione il passato e la storia dell'Iran che a chiedersi cosa stia accadendo in Iran oggi o quale futuro democratico gli iraniani stiano cercando.
Un membro del parlamento mi ha persino detto che non credeva che gli iraniani fossero pronti per la democrazia. Ma ricordo a quel parlamentare e a quei giornalisti: gli iraniani non sono solo pronti per la democrazia, ma 40.000 hanno recentemente sacrificato la propria vita per essa. E non permetterò che ciò sia stato vano.
Sappiate quindi questo: che l'Europa stia con noi o meno, che i vostri giornalisti facciano il loro lavoro o meno, che i vostri politici abbiano il coraggio di agire o meno — combatterò per il mio popolo e per il mio paese. Anche se dovessimo farlo da soli, combatteremo finché l'Iran non sarà libero.»

O Texto Completo Do Discurso Do Príncipe Herdeiro Reza Pahlavi À Europa:
«Nas últimas semanas, viajei pela Europa reunindo-me com membros de parlamentos, governos e órgãos de comunicação social. A minha viagem tinha um único objectivo: ser a voz de milhões de iranianos que foram feitos reféns sob o domínio da República Islâmica, o seu terror e os seus bloqueios à internet; milhões de iranianos cujas vozes foram silenciadas.
Mas agora posso afirmar com certeza que este silêncio, esta censura, não é praticada apenas pelo regime iraniano, mas também pelos meios de comunicação internacionais, especialmente os europeus. Por isso, quero falar directamente ao povo da Europa. Nas últimas duas semanas, realizei duas conferências de imprensa: uma em Estocolmo e outra ontem em Berlim. Mais de 150 jornalistas participaram nestas duas sessões. Falámos durante mais de duas horas. E nessas duas horas, nenhum desses 150 jornalistas me perguntou sobre os 40.000 iranianos massacrados nas ruas do meu país nos dias 8 e 9 de janeiro.
Nenhum dos 150 jornalistas me perguntou sobre os 19 presos políticos executados nas últimas duas semanas. Quando lhes disse que 20 presos políticos estão actualmente condenados à morte, nem um desses 150 jornalistas me questionou sobre isso. Quando fiquei ao lado de uma mãe cujo filho foi morto e de um pai cujo filho foi assassinado nos dias 8 e 9 de janeiro, e pedi que contassem as suas histórias, nenhum dos 150 jornalistas europeus lhes fez uma única pergunta.
Aqui, no coração de um continente que afirma defender os direitos humanos, a justiça e a dignidade humana, os seus jornalistas abandonaram completamente a sua responsabilidade profissional e até a sua neutralidade moral. É-me claro que esses jornalistas têm pouco interesse nos 40.000 corajosos e inocentes compatriotas meus que foram massacrados na luta pela liberdade.
Parece que estão mais interessados em criticar a América e perguntar por que razão a América e Israel derrubaram uma ditadura que massacra o nosso povo há 47 anos, em vez de criticar o regime que comete esses massacres. Parecem mais interessados em questionar o passado e a história do Irão do que em perguntar sobre o que está a acontecer no Irão hoje ou sobre o futuro democrático que os iranianos procuram.
Um membro do parlamento chegou mesmo a dizer-me que não achava que os iranianos estavam prontos para a democracia. Mas lembro a esse parlamentar e a esses jornalistas: os iranianos não estão apenas prontos para a democracia, mas 40.000 sacrificaram recentemente as suas vidas por ela. E não permitirei que isso seja em vão.
Saibam isto: quer a Europa esteja connosco ou não, quer os vossos jornalistas façam o seu trabalho ou não, quer os vossos políticos tenham a coragem de agir ou não — lutarei pelo meu povo e pelo meu país. Mesmo que tenhamos de o fazer sozinhos, lutaremos até que o Irão seja livre.»
