I am delighted to report that the Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury issued a written Ministerial Statement to Parliament yesterday announcing that they will abolish the Carbon Price Support (CPS) tax explained in my Substack below. It is a very destructive tax and has made UK industry uncompetitive even relative to EU manufacturers, let alone Asian ones. The bad news is that this won't happen until April 2028, and the rate will remain at £18 per tonne. By this time, the UK will be lucky to have any industry left to pay the CPS. It’s times like these you realise a lot of self professed Catholics are heretic Protestants both on the left and the right. I had my own problems and disagreements with Pope Francis and his actions vis a vis Traditiones Custodes but I looked to the example of St Padre Pio and I mostly shut up and endured. Anyone who belittles or calls into question the legitimacy of Pope Leo over his criticism of your fav politician or whatever has no patience or obedience. Sometimes you should just shut it.
