@JerseyBakerGirl @PortsofJersey We're sorry we were not able to open Café Ubé this afternoon due to an operational oversight. We are open 2 hours before every departure and adapt to Condor's changing schedule & cancellations which require re-scheduling staff & fresh food deliveries, often at short notice.

We plan for unpredictable fog etc, but if an airline issues 200 vouchers for a delayed flight (often its more flights), with 15 minutes or no warning or a flights is called to gate late, a queue may form. We understand this can compound the stress of delays for passengers.

Yesterday was busy at airport due to flight delays & cancellations. We worked overtime & re-allocated colleagues from other parts of island to serve double the number of normal Monday customers. Unexpected delays (even 1 flight) can put all airport teams under pressure. 1/2

@resolutehrje @HolmesSteffy @arfcurry @JERairport We have over 30 gluten free options on our rotating menu including salads, all soups, most casseroles, cookies and many snacks. We have gluten free beer. Sorry these aren’t to your taste. Sadly gluten free sandwiches & pasta don’t sell well. Thanks for feedback. We may try again

@JPRests @HolmesSteffy @arfcurry @JERairport I did not say you don’t clearly label for allergens. My problem is that you do not provide alternatives.

@HolmesSteffy @JERairport We monitor queues and whilst they can be long occasionally especially when flights are unexpectedly delayed they usually clear quickly. Sorry for inconvenience.

@JERairport @JPRests I’ve had an idea! Install self checkout machines for those not wanting a hot drink. It would speed up the line so much. Not everyone wants a hot drink but still has to wait in line for 10+ mins when buying a water and fruit pot !

@HolmesSteffy @JERairport Good idea. The current kitchen and structure were taken over rapidly during Covid when previous operator went insolvent. Any future airport redevelopment will I am sure look to allow an evolved offer and ideas such as this. Please direct questions/comments to PoJ.

@HolmesSteffy @arfcurry @JPRests @JERairport Almost always the same. Very expensive too. Also, considering the owner goes on so much about labeling for allergies, it seems odd that they do not cater for anyone with allergies or GF.

@14MilesToFrance We charge 10% more than our town café which are competitive but pay our team from £2 an hour more to work at airport and have higher operating costs at airport than town. Salaries at airport start at £14.20 an hour for entry level, much higher than typical Jersey café.

@JPRests Personally I’m more interested in the price difference inside the airport Vs outside, than one country and another. A fresh made sandwich to customers own spec at airport cash stores is circa £3.30 🤷🏼‍♀️

Zurich Airport just out here NAILING the healthy airport food that is lacking from basically every other airport.

@gibbonarms99 @MackenzieJersey Yes. They are comparable & often cheaper than London airports that have a lower cost base than Jersey. We also need to charge 5% GST. Take our food in U.K. is VAT free. We charge 10% more than our town but pay our team £2 an hour more to work at airport and have higher op costs.
