1/2Despite the carnage today, this lady was adamant to train staff that she and her daughter, were entitled to sit in 1st class for free because she couldn't find a seat in standard. She hadn't reserved one, also refused to pay for an upgrade.

2/2It is the first day the trains are running after Christmas. Everyone is trying to get home. Yet she laughed about how they expected her to stand for her short journey and was rude to the lovely train staff. How entitled to feel u hv a right to a £100 upgrade on 2 £10 tickets?

I am on the next train but the train afterwards is cancelled completely. Staff are lovely as usual. The seat next to me has someone got halfway to their destination and had to give up so taking the train back to where they started first thing this morning.

@rearend52 We aren’t yet into big numbers but to reassure, we have an existing process to catch these cases, not perfect works for most, but you will see cases when doesn’t. Given volumes going up we are developing a tactical fix, to catch all, as I write, with a full system fix due later.

@CrossCountryUK I have been fortunate to get on but it is crowded, uncomfortable with no access to facilities. Not worth the cost of the 1st class upgrade. Plus have had to take the priority seat of a gentleman that just had surgery in 1st class.
