🥎 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐊 𝐘𝐎𝐔, 𝐑𝐎𝐍 𝐒𝐌𝐈𝐓𝐇! 🥎 On Saturday, March 14, @SIU_Softball honored @SIUC alumnus Ron Smith for his $250,000 gift to purchase a new videoboard at Charlotte West Stadium. Ron cut the ceremonial ribbon for the board and threw out the first pitch before the team's win against Bradley. A native of Walsh, Illinois, Ron graduated from Southern in 1964 with a degree in marketing and then earned a master's in business administration in 1966. Since then, Smith has stayed connected with SIU and has made multiple donations to the university. "I'm just so happy to be a part of the community and glad that (SIU) is a part of my life," he said.
