Six Arab countries — Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Jordan — issued a joint statement calling on the Iraqi government to take "immediate and decisive measures” to halt attacks launched by armed groups and militias from Iraqi territory toward neighboring countries. basnews.com/en/babat/909492

These people are a complete joke. The mayor of Jenin is handing out fire extinguishers to villages that came under attack this week by Israeli settlers who set Palestinian homes on fire. Instead of protecting Palestinian civilians under attack by Israeli settlers, the Palestinian Authority is reduced to handing out fire extinguishers. People need protection and a real response that stops these attacks, not just leaves them to deal with the aftermath.

@Stortinget @Regjeringen @OlaSvenneby

Karma is finally coming for Meta, through the legal system. As we await a verdict in Los Angeles on whether social media platforms were designed to addict young people, it's important to note that TWO courts have already ruled against Meta in the past month. 1) Yesterday, a jury in New Mexico established that Meta's platforms are not safe for kids, and that their design enabled the exploitation of children. This is a watershed moment: This is the FIRST time a jury has evaluated the evidence. The evidence was so compelling that the jury said Meta should pay $375 million dollars in civil penalties for the harms it has caused to New Mexico and its citizens. See here: theguardian.com/technology/202… 2. But it gets worse for Meta: a few weeks ago, in Delaware, a court ruled that Meta's insurance companies do not have a duty to defend Meta or cover its costs in the thousands of lawsuits playing out in California because, under California law, if a company caused harm through "intentional acts" rather than accidentally, the insurers have no obligation to defend that company. Because the documents brought out in the NM and LA trials show intentional actions, Meta loses insurance coverage. That's what the insurance companies asserted, and the judge agreed with them. See here: insurancejournal.com/magazines/mag-… Because of these two rulings, the legal and political landscape has changed dramatically. Going forward, social media companies will be judged like any other company whose product design decisions harm children. These two rulings mark a profound shift toward accountability. The legal system is beginning to catch up to what parents have known all along. Many parents are now more likely to get justice for what these platforms have been doing to children for many years.

UPDATE: Israeli forces evicted 15 Palestinian families – around 100 people – in Batn al-Hawa today. Their homes are expected to be transferred immediately to Ateret Cohanim, a settler organisation. Over 1,000 more Palestinians in East Jerusalem are at risk of forced eviction.
Norwegian Refugee Council@NRC_Norway

1/6🚨80 Palestinians in Batn al-Hawa face imminent forced displacement after Israeli authorities issued eviction notices to 11 families, ordering them to leave their homes by 23 March. If implemented, dozens of people will be made homeless within days.

Parts of Afrin still have explosives that the YPG planted in 2018 in villages that did not want to leave Afrin with them. They blew up houses, esp in Central Afrin, and also in Afrin City: entire Kurdish families were buried under the rubble. I have spoken with family members.
Karim@Idlibie

The SDF and only the SDF should be responsible for demining the Raqqa, Deir Ezzor and North Aleppo countrysides, because it was their racially-driven paranoia that caused them to plant them all in the first place. Once again, it’s children who suffer the most from their doctrine.

NEW: No modern pope has sustained a campaign of this scope against an active American military operation. In twenty-five days, the U.S.-born Pope Leo XIV has told Christian soldiers to promote peace, ordered Catholic politicians who perpetuate war to go to confession, called for a permanent ban on aerial bombing, and demanded a ceasefire — repeatedly, publicly, and without apology. thelettersfromleo.com/p/hatred-is-in…

They are bombing churches and mosques—symbols of coexistence. Ancient cities in South Lebanon shaped by Christian and Muslim life over thousands of years, like Tyre—one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. Whole shared histories are being shattered. Entire communities are being uprooted and destroyed. Not by accident. Not in the name of security. But because they can. And the world watches.

Absolute insanity. Why would US and Israeli jets drop massive bombs on a garbage truck parking lot? A journalist explains the sinister strategy: they are intentionally destroying civilian infrastructure and sanitation to force societal collapse and desperation.

Wharton’s latest AI study points to a hard truth: “AI writes, humans review” model is breaking down Why "just review the AI output" doesn't work anymore, our brains literally give up. We have started doing "Cognitive Surrender" to AI - Wharton’s latest AI study points to a hard truth: reviewing AI output is not a reliable safeguard when cognition itself starts to defer to the machine.when you stop verifying what the AI tells you, and you don't even realize you stopped. It's different from offloading, like using a calculator. With offloading you know the tool did the work. With surrender, your brain recodes the AI's answer as YOUR judgment. You genuinely believe you thought it through yourself. Says AI is becoming a 3rd thinking system, and people often trust it too easily. You know Kahneman's System 1 (fast intuition) and System 2 (slow analysis)? They're saying AI is now System 3, an external cognitive system that operates outside your brain. And when you use it enough, something happens that they call Cognitive Surrender. Cognitive surrender is trickier: AI gives an answer, you stop really questioning it, and your brain starts treating that output as your own conclusion. It does not feel outsourced. It feels self-generated. The data makes it hard to brush off. Across 3 preregistered studies with 1,372 participants and 9,593 trials, people turned to AI on over 50% of questions. In Study 1, when AI was correct, people followed it 92.7% of the time. When it was wrong, they still followed it 79.8% of the time. Without AI, baseline accuracy was 45.8%. With correct AI, it jumped to 71.0%. With incorrect AI, it dropped to 31.5%, worse than having no AI. Access to AI also boosted confidence by 11.7 percentage points, even when the answers were wrong. Human review is supposed to be the safety net. But this research suggests the safety net has a hole in it: people do not just miss bad AI output; they become more confident in it. Time pressure did not eliminate the effect. Incentives and feedback reduced it but did not remove it. And the people most resistant tended to score higher on fluid intelligence and need for cognition. That makes this feel less like a laziness problem and more like a cognitive architecture problem.

Statement by the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs On the morning of March 24, 2026, in two separate attacks, six Iranian ballistic missiles struck a base belonging to the 7th Infantry Division (Area 1) and a unit of the 5th Infantry Division of the Peshmerga Forces in the Soran area. These attacks—carried out in a hostile, treacherous, and dishonorable manner, and wholly devoid of humanity or the conduct expected of a neighbor—resulted in the martyrdom of six brave Peshmerga and the injury of thirty others. While we strongly condemn this brutal assault and all other terrorist acts targeting the Kurdistan Region, we reaffirm our legitimate right to defend our people and our land against any aggression. We did not expect such a cowardly act in response to the Kurdistan Region’s peaceful and cooperative stance. However, the days of treachery and oppression are short-lived, and the will for peace shall prevail. We extend our deepest condolences and solidarity to the families of our martyrs, and we wish a swift recovery to the wounded. Once again, we call on all parties to keep war and unrest away from the Kurdistan Region. We also urge the Federal Government, the international community, and all our friends not to remain silent in the face of these aggressive violations, and to draw clear boundaries against such reckless hostilities.
