I filmed this in Jan 2020 in #Nabatieh in south #Lebanon, residents chanted against sectarianism & corruption & called for reassertion of Lebanese government’s sovereignty, meaning disarming #Hezbollah. Their city has been destroyed in Israeli strikes, where do they stand now?

Outrageous and ominous. First, his supposed goal was to push Hezbollah away from border so Israelis could return home. Now goal is for the Lebanese to "free themselves from Hezbollah" or face "abyss of a long war that will lead to destruction and suffering like we see in Gaza.”
Benjamin Netanyahu - בנימין נתניהו@netanyahu
This is a message to the people of Lebanon:

I have no doubt Hezbollah were complicit in the #beirutblast. But that doesn't mean I celebrate the Israeli attacks, which also killed innocent people.
I want justice, not vengeance.
I won't allow anyone to justify the killing 100s of civilians in my name or Isaac's name.

You know what’s truly dystopian? My Egyptian colleague had to send a long email to our Head of Region to explain why it’s a communications faux-pas not to send an organization-wide message acknowledging & supporting Lebanese colleagues & stakeholders, especially since Lebanon is a key partner in the region and we operate across the Med. She had to *convince* him to do it while he threw out excuses like, “it’s not the government at war, it’s Hezbollah.” She ended up drafting the email for him. Of course no mention was made to Palestine. Few months ago I was asked by EU colleagues to reach out to the city of Ramallah to audit a project implemented in 2019.
When I tell you that our lives as Arabs - collectively - aren’t even worth a few empty words of sympathy, believe me. I don’t work in tech or in some service industry. I work in international development, surrounded by social scientists & human rights lawyers - people who are supposed to be *aware* of the complexities of our situations.
Mind you, just a few weeks ago, this same person was applauding LAF for their proactive efforts despite being severely under-resourced and underpaid.
It’s sickening how human rights seem to apply to only a select portion of humanity, while the rest of us are left to scrape for dignity.
I am appalled, horrified, disgusted, outraged, and frankly sickened at the state of our world.

On the 4th anniversary of the #beirutblast I saw a number of posts from UN entities &gov'ts saying they stand with the victims, desparing at the lack of justice &calling for an investigation. Quite frankly, these posts are starting to feel insulting /1

Today marks 4yrs since our Isaac was taken from us in the #beirutblast.
Even if I had all the words in the world, they would never be enough to convey how much I miss him, or how cruel it is that a photo taken in a moment of joy now adorns his headstone.
There is no justice.
