@CathyYoung63 Honestly, what more can you say? “……” is about right.

@stephenfhayes Because he will do the president’s bidding at any cost. That’s all that he needs to fulfill. The rest of this can be bulldozed.

I've asked this same question with dozens Trump appointees.
I've done a handful of background interviews for former colleagues/employees seeking jobs at DoD and intel agencies. These agencies often send an official to conduct the interviews in person. They sometimes last more than an hour -- even for low-level jobs. They're exhaustive -- the interviewer demanding details on every aspect of the applicant's life. Work habits, alcohol and drug use, criminal history, overseas travel, personal relationships, business associations, loyalty to the US, etc.
So, yeah: How does this guy get a clearance?

@EWErickson The problem is that they both claim Christianity. Which is the heretic exactly?
English

I’m totally happy to work to defeat Talarico, who is too extreme for any Christian to support, particularly since scripture clearly tells Christians to avoid those who profess Christ, but are heretics. But I see no need to defend a corrupt crook like Paxton and I question the sincerity of Christians who will excuse Paxton’s conduct, for which he pleaded no contest, while attacking Talarico. You’re really no better than Talarico when you do that.

@PatrickSvitek Kinda sorta increasing it wasn’t going to cut it.

Cornyn tried hard to increase turnout for his runoff and expand the electorate. The turnout rate is currently 6.98%. How that compares:
- 2022 AG runoff (Paxton v. Bush): 5.40%
- 2014 AG runoff (Paxton v. Branch): 5.41%
- 2012 U.S. Senate runoff (Cruz v. Dewhurst): 8.51% #TXSEN

Texas Republicans have long been among my favorite people. (I knew a lot of Bushies, back when.) (And Phil Gramm was just about my favorite politician.)
Today, in their Senate primary, Texas Republicans have chosen a picture of degeneracy over a Trump-supporting incumbent who is, at bottom, responsible and decent.
It’s like Republicans looked at Cornyn and said, “Nope. Not corrupt, crazy, or immoral enough.”
In a democracy, we say who we are, with our votes. We show what we value. To some of us, recent years have been both illuminating and heartbreaking. I have had frequent occasion to use an old expression: “sadder but wiser.”
I have not spoken like a populist. I’m not running for office. I don’t believe in “Vox populi, vox Dei.” In fact, I think that’s one of the most erroneous and disgusting notions ever conceived. I’m a writer, for better or worse. I have said what I think, even as I hope for a brighter morrow.

@JohnCornyn @POTUS @KenPaxtonTX You're going down, John.
Wife and I here in Melissa are voting tomorrow for Paxton.
English

This is just willfully ignorant. I have a 99.3% voting record with @POTUS and I am proud of what we have accomplished together. Then again, who believes you can trust anything @KenPaxtonTX says?

@EX_EV0LUTIONIST @JohnCornyn @POTUS @KenPaxtonTX @grok You can believe grok or you can believe Dave P. It’s up to you.
English

@JohnCornyn @POTUS @KenPaxtonTX @grok can you verify the veracity of Cornyn's claims that his voting record has been 99.3% on the side of Trump?

@RadioFreeTom @stephenfhayes Steve is a good faith guy. You can wheel and deal with that all day.

@RichardHanania Do you think Israel wants a failed state in Iran? Is that the ultimate goal?

@RichardHanania I wonder what Ethan would say if we asked him if he’d rather have the vaccine.
English

“Yes, it hurts, of course, it hurts. But God has chosen Ethan for a reason. God is doing something, and we're gonna glorify his name regardless…If I knew this could be the outcome, I still wouldn't have given my son the vaccine.”

@madrid_mike If it’s possible to define LV as those voting in the next midterms, I bet the poll would be even worse for R’s. But maybe that’s just wishful thinking.

NEW: Graham Platner says he's no John Fetterman. But he gets the concerns.
“Look, as somebody that was disappointed [with Fetterman]—if I was me looking in, I’d have the same concerns. We’ve been burned before.”
He says he’s different.
