💬 Pakistan’s payment system is broken. Let’s stop pretending otherwise. Here are 11 reasons why the country still runs on cash, despite 240M people and 50M+ cards 👇 1️⃣ Lowest POS acceptance rate in the world 50M cards issued, only ~150K POS machines active. ➡️ 80–90% of transactions still in cash. ➡️ The number of POS terminals is decreasing. ROI on a terminal? 7–8 months. Merchants say no. 2️⃣ Banks prefer issuing, not acquiring They make money on card fees, not acceptance. Average MDR: 1.8–2.2% — too high for merchants. 3️⃣ No local routing — still going abroad For 12+ years, no domestic routing system. Every Visa/Mastercard transaction goes via Singapore or the U.S. ➡️ More cost ➡️ More latency ➡️ Less sovereignty 4️⃣ QR payments — improving, not perfect Raast QR launched in 2022, almost 1 M active merchants. Still mostly static QRs, limited automation, few incentives. 5️⃣ Cash is expensive — up to 15% for retailers Transport, counting, theft, time loss. Yet no one accounts for it in the P&L. 6️⃣ Slow, politicized regulation In 3 years of SBP sandbox: only 2 fintechs approved. Announcements are public — execution isn’t. 7️⃣ VCs fear the market ~1% of fintechs raise capital. Political risk + no exits = frozen investment. 8️⃣ Talent drain Senior engineers earn 3–4x more in the Gulf. Pakistan trains — others profit. 9️⃣ Overseas Pakistanis are ignored They send $38B/year back home — yet can’t easily open a remote account, invest, or pay safely. 🔟 No alignment between banks and fintechs Banks want to do everything. Fintechs are blocked. The State copies India’s old models. ➡️ Result: zero unified vision. 1️⃣1️⃣ Crypto — banned, but unstoppable Pakistan still bans crypto, yet 20M+ users hold around $30B in assets (source: Binance). The potential isn’t gone — just waiting to be unlocked. 📌 The problem isn’t technology. It’s execution — and lack of collaboration. 🤝 The time has come for unity. Fintechs, banks, and builders must speak as one if we want a real digital Pakistan. No one understands this ecosystem better than those who live it every day.

If Zohran Mamdani can go from “nobody” to the next mayor of New York in less than a year, then no one can tell me we can’t change the payment system of South Asia. What inspires me is not politics — it’s the fact that he entered a locked system, with no legacy, no big money, no “safe path”. Just vision, work, and relentless conviction. I learned something: systems don’t change because we complain about them. They change when someone replaces them. For the past few months, I’ve been building @MegPayOff — a real, usable solution for merchants and individuals in Pakistan, because it’s a 240M-people market with 70% still unbanked and no true all-in-one payment app yet. ✅ payments, transfers, settlement, cards, wallet, upcoming tokenized features — all in one app. ✅ not waiting for the country to be “ready”, but preparing for the moment when everything opens. The PoC is done. User feedback is being collected. MVP is on the way. And I’m not here to “announce” — I’m here to deliver. I’m not looking for permission. I’m looking for execution. And just like @ZohranKMamdani, I believe outsiders can win when they refuse to play by old rules.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. These past years have taught me that entrepreneurship is not a straight line. It’s a daily battle, made of highs, lows, and above all - resilience. I’ve built many projects over the years. Some succeeded, others gave me the greatest lessons of my life. And after almost 20 years in entrepreneurship, including 5 in Tech and Web3, I can say this: it’s no longer experience I lack, it’s my vision that’s becoming sharper. I took a voluntary pause. Not to disappear. But to come back more lucid, stronger, and fairer. I needed to question myself, to review my achievements, analyze my mistakes, and most importantly, to listen, to the market, to people, and to myself. Some people helped me, others took advantage, and others challenged me. But all of them, in one way or another, shaped my journey and taught me something. I forget no one, and I remain loyal to my commitments. Because an entrepreneur should not only know how to create, but also how to take responsibility. It’s with this mindset that @MegPayOff was born. An app not built to follow a trend, but to answer a real need. We studied the real needs of the market and its users, and realized that the world doesn’t need another payment app. It needs a smart, seamless, and sustainable solution, one that connects people, merchants, and opportunities. We’re building a long-term vision, with a team of visionaries and one clear goal: to make MegPay a reference, not an imitation. I won’t say everything here. This post isn’t an announcement, it’s a new beginning. For those who believed, for those who doubted, and for those still watching, know this: I don’t give up. I’m not here to prove; I’m here to build - sustainably. If this message resonates with you, then perhaps our paths will cross. #Entrepreneurship #Resilience #MegPay #Fintech #Innovation #Leadership #StartupJourney
