Reform in 2025 dominated in local elections, winning 680 out of 1641 seats mostly at expense of Conservatives. Will they do it again this year with Lab? 1600+ impressive 2000 great results. Look too for Greens, can they push past 500 seats gains?

Zack Polanski’s criticism of the police officers response to the Golders Green attack was disgraceful. He’s not fit to lead any political party.

NEW: @ZackPolanski has apologised for “sharing a tweet in haste” criticising the Met Police officers who apprehended the Golders Green attacker ‘Everyone in leadership has a responsibility for lowering the temperature at a time of such tension, and I apologise for sharing a tweet in haste. Police responses to emergency situations such as these do need later reflection in the right forums, but I accept that social media is not the appropriate channel for doing so. I have invited Mark Rowley to meet with me to discuss the police response and the wider issues raised in his letter.’

Mark Rowley on @SkyNews re his open letter to @ZackPolanski. “I'm not getting involved in politics. I'm dealing with operations. I need my officers to have confidence to tackle the most difficult and dangerous individuals. Of course, there's always going to be sort of, sort of eccentricity and nonsense online. “But if an eminent person steps into operational policing and, sort of criticises officers in a way that can undermine their confidence to act, I need to support that…. He has stepped into operational policing with his criticism & inaccuracies & I need to put that straight”

Speculation is rife that one of Keir Starmer’s solutions if Labour lose significantly in the May 7th election is to reshuffle his cabinet. In this week’s Electoral Dysfunction, @HarrietHarman tells @BethRigby why briefing on that option is a bad idea. 🎧 trib.al/pxOEhQ0

Exclusive: Sir Keir Starmer has told allies he does not want to carry out a reshuffle of his top team after the local elections He is said to have raised concerns that a reshuffle would be a distraction. Allies have also said that carrying out a reshuffle from a “point of weakness” would only further damage his standing As per @BethRigby there are clear divisions in Number 10 over whether a reshuffle might bolster his chances of survival in the wake of the locals But the PM is said to be pretty clear that he doesn’t want to go there thetimes.com/article/a9d355…

Nigel Farage has been referred to the Standards Commissioner after @Annaisaac revealed that he received a £5million gift from cypto billionaire Christopher Harborne before he was elected in 2024 Farage said that he used the money to fund his private security. But the Commons rules state that new members are required to register any benefits - including gifts - that they received in the 12 months prior to their election The Tories have now referred Farage to the Standards Commissioner, saying that Farage must 'come clean'

In January 2025, Downing Street said Rachel Reeves will remain in her role "for the whole of this Parliament” after criticism of her handling of her economy. In July 2025, Keir Starmer said she would remain chancellor "into the next election and for many years after" after she was seen crying at PMQs. At PMQs today, the PM declined several opportunities to say she would stay in post after the local elections. But asked about it after, No 10 says his “position remains unchanged” on Reeves being in post for the whole parliament. A senior aide told me last week the rumour was “bulls**t”. Others point out that No 10 wants to avoid the sort of market wobble that followed speculation she might have been sacked, and replaced by somebody further to left, in July. “Imagine what it would be like if he actually did it.” But it is the case - as @BethRigby reports - there are differences of opinion among the PM’s top team about whether he should have a reshuffle post May. Starmer himself is said to be undecided.
