On this day 6 years ago, January 17th 2020, Halsey released her 3rd studio album: Manic, written as Ashley. It debuted #2 on the Billboard 200 and sold 239k units in its first week. “The most torturing and beautiful wait of my life has come to an end MANIC out now.”

Finally home. Digesting what has taken place over the last years. Loom was about new beginnings. Color. Change. Heartache. Newness. Freedom. Fear. Regret. Death. Faith. Faithlessness. Love. You received it, as you always do, with grace and so much love. We felt it. We are incredibly blown away by all the letters, the art and the connections. Seeing your faces all across the globe made every stop feel like home. Your voices sang with us at every stop, regardless of language or differences. You filled our hearts. Truly. Sydney, it’s hard to believe we are one of the first artists ever to be inducted into the Australian walk of fame. You showed up in the masses, and we are so grateful. Enjoy these scenes capturing the glory and the madness.

just did a little listen down of TGI for the anniversary today to reminisce, and god damn is this a sad album. I hope it’s the saddest album I ever write. I’m unbelievably proud of the honesty in this record. But some of it still chokes me up maaaan.

I wrote this album in a very uncertain time in my life. Since then, so much has changed and some things have stayed the same. It was clunky and timid at first, but eventually I grew to love and embrace the saga that followed. This album was meant to earmark the possible conclusion to my career. Here’s what happened instead: I challenged myself. I shared my journey, I met thousands of people in similar shoes. I went on the biggest tour of my career, and I’m writing this from the road on a SECOND tour! (One that celebrates my origin story, what poetic justice) It felt like a slow eternity while it was happening, but now I can say the year flew by. There are new trials and new triumphs. But I’m happy for the girl in this video, who needed faith that life would return to beautiful form. I was impersonating someone with that faith, for much of this year. I’m happy to say I don’t have to anymore. It’s for real. If you are someone who connected with or appreciated this heavy, hard, and honest album, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart.
