The "emotional journey" was tainted for me.
These characters are a simulacrum. They look and behave similar to the characters we know, but something irreplaceable has been carved out of them.
Our memories shape our identity. Them only having vague recollections is not enough.

"What's the point" "A waste of time" "Oh now it's pointless" "Now that didn't happen" Viewing art as a "result-oriented" transaction turns an emotional journey into a mechanical spreadsheet, where the only value is a final plot payout. This "point-ticking" is a mind killer.
