When I speak about the need to end this war, I always focus first and foremost on the immense human cost being paid for military actions and autocratic brutality. However, some deliberately reduce my calls for peace to nothing more than territorial concessions. Let me be clear: I have no influence over any territorial decisions, nor am I the president of the country empowered to make them. Any attempt to twist my words into something else is a cheap and primitive provocation. That said, I firmly maintain that this war is already causing irreversible changes within the state and the nation. Most tragically, we are losing our population — people we may never be able to replace. Of the roughly 25 million Ukrainians still remaining in the country, 12 million are pensioners. Last year, Ukraine recorded three times more deaths than births. This war is literally destroying the Ukrainian nation.

The Russian Aerospace Forces are vividly distributing FAB-500 bombs The Russian Defense Ministry has published a video of frontline aviation operations against three exposed enemy targets in the Dnipropetrovsk and Kherson regions. Visually confirmed vehicle losses for each side in May: Ukraine lost 159 vehicles, while Russia lost 28, giving us a ratio of 1:5.6 in favour of Russia. When excluding armoured cars and MRAPs, Russia lost 26 vehicles, while Ukraine lost 73, giving us a ratio of 1:2.8 in favour of Russia. For self-propelled guns, it is slightly worse for Russia this month, with Russia losing 6 while Ukraine continued suffering high losses at 27 (1:4.5 in favour of Russia). Tank and IFV losses remain extremely low for both sides, as small groups of infantry is almost exclusively used for assault operations. So, while you see sources like ISW and Deepstate showing supposed net Ukraine gains for May (even this is not the case), the rate of attrition continues to favour Russia, as evidenced here.
