The Electric taxi that never was. The "Metro" electric London taxi was a range-extended electric vehicle developed by Fraser Nash and launched around 2014. Only a couple were licensed, but due to copyright issues, which they won, but financially ruined stopping production.

@michaelblackcab Selfish drivers are not looking to the future. What happens when the Vito goes. Who’s going to do the large jobs where they are essential. We will lose a lot of work. Everyone moans about the black Vitos knocking around the hotels We need a large vehicle with luggage space

@coltscabs @littlejohn50 I’m an older driver with one cab left in me but I have absolutely zero confidence in levc. I think this goes for a lot of older drivers. Ford have a vast network and can be trusted imho. The Vito was a van but it’s a fantastic vehicle no difference with the maxi.

It’s worsening…Another 32 cabs lost to ply and the phones ring and ring and no fleets are looking to invest . We need something solid from the regulator If the FORD MaxiCab is the only possibility it should be allowed to ply even without the turning circle . Any meter will do !

@CabdirectLondon I would get one. The Vito was the best cab I’ve ever had. Levc are a busted flush. They have rinsed our trade for years. The turning circle has been made obsolete by our wonderful regulator.

At a time of great uncertainty for the trade, it’s a real shame that London taxi drivers aren’t allowed to choose more affordable modern vehicles like they can in other major cities throughout the UK.

@kpmautos This is the reason we need another vehicle. The does is ready to go but khan knows he has the turning circle in his pocket to stop the demise of the trade. LEVC will not protect the trade alone and with the job losses their on the brink.

@PaulAtk58771353 The only thing possibly is they have either cladded the walls or more likely re tiled it in mosaics with 1 inch square tiles which considering the length of time it’s been closed is the more likely 🤷🏼‍♂️

@seanpaulday I believe the airport is also seeking sanction from TFL to pass on the pickup fee to the passenger as an extra.
