In afwachting daarvan worden alle ontmantelingsactiviteiten per direct stopgezet. Deze regering kiest voor zekere, betaalbare en duurzame energie. In Parliament, I responded to questions about our country’s position regarding Euroclear. Many false insinuations are being spread to put pressure on us, but our conditions are reasonable and constructive. We are not going to burden ourselves with irresponsible risks.

Today, I had the honour of addressing the closing session of the @forumalpbach. Europe faces one of its greatest shared challenges: migration. We must repair the front door of our European home by regaining control of our external borders and stopping illegal migration. At the same time inside our home, we must tear down the walls that still limit our Single Market. Only then can we unlock new growth, jobs, and opportunities for all Europeans. #EFA25

De hernieuwde toegang voor luchtdroppings en VN-hulpkonvooien over land biedt België een concrete mogelijkheid om bij te dragen aan een verbetering van de humanitaire situatie in de Gazastrook. We kregen zonet groen licht van Jordanië om die bijdrage op korte termijn effectief waar te maken. Samen met onze Europese partners blijven we druk uitoefenen om te garanderen dat humanitaire hulp veilig en toegankelijk georganiseerd kan worden. Indien dat niet lukt, sluiten we verdere maatregelen of sancties niet uit. Zoals door mij al toegelicht in de Kamer op 17 juli. De strijd tegen Hamas is uiteraard legitiem. Hamas is een terreurgroep die nog altijd gijzelaars vasthoudt en de Palestijnse burgers wellustig slachtoffert. Maar Israël is een westerse democratie en moet als zodanig tot de orde geroepen worden: het leed van onschuldige burgers moet stoppen. De oorlog moet tevens beëindigd worden. As we await full details of the new EU–US trade agreement, one thing is clear: this is a moment of relief but not of celebration. Tariffs will increase in several areas and some key questions remain unresolved. Still, I commend President @vonderleyen and her team for their hard work and dedication over recent months, focused on preserving transatlantic ties and ensuring trade remains as stable as possible under challenging circumstances. I sincerely hope the United States will, in due course, turn away again from the delusion of protectionism and once again embrace the value of free trade – a cornerstone of shared prosperity. In the meantime, Europe must continue to deepen its internal market, cut unnecessary regulation, and forge new partnerships to diversify our global trade network. May Europe become the beacon of open, fair, and reliable trade the world so urgently needs.

"Frank, but productive" would summarize the discussions nicely. The transatlantic relationship is too strong and valuable, with too much in common and too much at stake, to even consider neglecting it and not invest in it now. Let's keep the channels open!
