My 2018 model 3 is essentially a perfect car. I would get destroyed on trade-in value. I’ve driven the new ones, they’re great, but they aren’t worth 40k to me when the car I have now is more than fine. When I bought FSD unsupervised & robotaxi were promised. I don’t want a new car, I just want the actual full features of the car I already bought. Waiting another 6-8 months for them to sort out the retrofit is nothing. I’ve waited 6 years. I absolutely love this car and have zero reason to trade it in.

Tesla should pull every lever in their pocket to get people to trade in their HW3 vehicle for a HW4 vehicle in 2026 To me, what makes the most sense: If you purchased FSD: give three options. (1) get a *final* FSD transfer offer to a HW4 vehicle. This comes with a flat 20% boost in trade in offer for your HW3 vehicle. (2) If you decide you want a new vehicle but would rather start a subscription, you apply the price paid for FSD as a discount to new vehicle in addition to a 15% boost in trade in offer. (3) If you decide not to transfer bc you do not want a new vehicle, you get placed in a queue with expected HW retrofit at a certain date. If you did not purchase FSD: you get a 10% boost in trade in offer and free 3 month subscription to FSD. Used market for Tesla vehicles is HOT. Take advantage. Do right by your supporting customers, and this ultimately saves money (and more importantly - time) in the long run.

@rhensing That start was breathtaking. I could not believe LH popping from 7th almost to fight for the lead before the first corner. UNREAL!

So F1 is on AppleTV and they have this new “Race in 30” which condenses the race down to 30 minutes. This is AWESOME!!! Also the new regs have indeed creates a lot more passing. It’s going to be interesting to see whether it will be used to win a race this year!

@xai @grok here is the bug I have with version 4.20: With my super long thread I have for my meal planning I give it my morning stats (weight, what my workout calories were, etc) and then ask for my recovery snack and meal plan for the day. The agents get stuck in a loop, and then each one says “done, the plan is sent, the user is waiting, the plan is good, the plan is sent, final plan sent,” etc to infinity. I stopped it and added “don’t get stuck in a loop chatting amongst yourselves” and it gave me the response instantly.

@archer_rs I own two EVs. Even I think this hybrid crap is nonsense. Let’s just see racing at the limit! Not some energy harvesting who has more deployment BS.

I was ALL IN. It has just gotten so bad over the years. Especially HomePod integration. I need to replace my current router (HomeKit router) and am realizing that a lot of integrations will break when I swap it out. Will need to re-add devices. Somehow the OG HomeKit to thread to matter it’s just gotten worse and worse. I’m hoping for some kind of Apple home renaissance!

While looking back at the history of Apple Home and HomeKit, I rewatched the original announcement from WWDC 14. It was a real nostalgia hit, that moment of thinking, “this is going to change my home.” But it also made something else very clear: that era of HomeKit is coming to an end later in February! A lot of the early device makers, are no longer around in 2026. and the platform itself has moved on. But what hasn’t changed is the foundation those early years set. Privacy first design, local processing, and tight system level integration are no longer just ideas from the past. They are the legacy HomeKit left behind, and they now sit at the core of Apple Home today.

Daughter just passed her state psychologist licensing test last week. It was an online test, "supervised." Masters also in hand because it's required. First job interview - offer is $3600/month for the first 6 months. She's expected to see 30 patients/wk. Lose 5% of those patients for any reason in that period and she's fired. If she maintains, pay goes to $7500/month but she has to continue to "perform". Her job here is not to help, but to foster dependence. If at any time she helps someone become self sufficient, she's risking her own livelihood. This is the very definition of perverse incentives, and it is one of the clearest views of what we see so much of in medical field writ large that I've seen yet (and I've seen a lot). Know this every time you talk to your therapist. You're nothing more than a paycheck to most of them. Especially if you're going through a clinic.
BowTied Biohacker@BowTiedUM

Most illegitimate medical field of all time Won't completely write off "chemical imbalance" as a factor, but the way the go about treating it is garbage You don't have a Xanax or an amphetamine deficiency You're not lacking endogenous quetiapine Some of the chemslop might be useful for stabilizing someone in a real crisis But that's not happening when someone's seeing a psych monthly They're getting fucked up longterm They're getting numbed out The anxiety or depression or whatever that's functioning as a signal for biological, spiritual, and mindset problems you need to address gets dulled, and therefore NEVER solved It's the exact thing as drinking or doing rec drugs for that reason You live the rest of your life as a lower consciousness shell of your former self and they tell you this is good And the sad thing is most of them are brainwashed to think it is a good thing

@TesCalendar1 I agree completely. There was a time period when we had just one car that my wife used for work and it was me hauling kids around to birthdays etc in an Uber. Freaking nightmare.

I just want to take a minute and saw WHAT THE HECK IS ELON THINKING. First off, he says to have more kids. Great, I’m all for that and working on that. Then he says we are all going to trade our personal cars for Robotaxi’s? Ok ok… if you’re single, you may not understand how absolutely historical this notion is. Situation 1: My family of 4 wants to go out to dinner. We have 2 kids in car seats. I haul a Robotaxi. Crap it’s just a 2 seater. Now we hail one bigger (Model Y?). Cool, we can all fit. Now I dimply around the back seat for 30 minutes properly installing 2 car seats. Now we load up the kids, get in the front seats, and we are FINALLY off. Then we get there. So now I need to remove 2 car seats and somehow carry 2 kids AND 2 car seats inside the restaurant. This is boarder line impossible but hey, it’s fine. All in the name of Elon’s mission. And this is actually the easier scenario. And oh yeah, we get to do this all over again just to go home, not to mention if we wanted to make other stops. Each stop you get to do this again and again and again… wow. Scenario 2: We want to visit family 200mi away as we frequently do. Same load up difficulties as before but it’s amplified… by a lot. Now we need a stroller, pack and play, toys, diaper bags, coolers, luggage for all of us, and more! So now the Robotaxi comes and waited for us to load for a good hour. If I’m being honest, that’s a huge underestimate. But that’s besides the point. So we try to cram all of that in a Model Y (FYI - it won’t fit. That’s why we sold our Y for a BUZZ) and we are off. 200 miles of being chauffeured. Suddenly, one of the kids isn’t feeling good and throws up. Shoot, we didn’t bring the proper rags to clean this mess up. Now what? When we use to own a car extra supplies like this just lived in the car! Ugh. Whatever, we use that But the annoyance continues. We get there, unload, and the Robotaxi takes off. We made it. Now we can enjoy family. We usually stay at the grandparents house BUT WAIT, now we want to go over to the aunt and uncles (real scenario). So now there’s 6 of us, crud. We need TWO Robotaxi’s. And now I get to do the fun of scenario 1 all over again. So we visit the aunt and uncles and now I get to do it AGAIN. And now we want to go out to dinner and I get to do it AGAIN. TWICE. You get the point, to say this is incredibly impractical is a drastic understatement. Seriously, WHO THOUGHT THIS THROUGH?!?! And I’m not even going to try to explain how the great American vacation is also ruined by this. Long story short, the amount of people willing to give up their personal vehicles is close to zero.

@Not_the_Bee In the drop-off line for two different schools today, I counted up how many vehicles were larger than a Model Y (3 row SUV or truck) Roughly HALF of all the cars. Families need 6 seaters, room for tons of gear. Makes me sad that Tesla won’t be family vehicles in the future.

The Cybertruck Guy

If you’re feeling a little uneasy about today’s investor call, you’re not alone. Now that Unsupervised has arrived, Tesla is evolving and changing directions— and betting the house on 1-2 person autonomous transit. That is great for many people. Tesla is going to generate billions, if not trillions, by optimizing that on-demand, efficiency car market. It will lift millions out of poverty by increasing access to affordable transportation. However, I believe Autonomy should expand how we live, not narrow what our lives are allowed to be. Let me explain: Perhaps you consider me a vehicle enthusiast, but I do not purchase multiple vehicles for multiple niche uses. Instead, I purchase one vehicle for ALL of my uses. That is the reason I adore Cybertruck, and I don’t think I’m alone on this one. My vehicle must be able to transport my family— someday a family of 5 or more. Not just around town, but across the country! My vehicle must be owned by ME. Not an on-demand Uber. I travel to rural + remote areas routinely. I live spontaneously. I transport & secure expensive equipment daily. I break things. My vehicle must be fun. The acceleration in a Tesla is addicting, and well, I’m an addict. My vehicle must be used to tow heavy trailers frequently AND tow long distances (500+ miles), including: -jet skis -snowmobiles -utility trailers -campers -boats, etc. My vehicle must be capable off-road AND in horrific weather. Whether that’s a weekend in the national forest or pulling a friend out of a snowy ditch. Many of us have purchased Teslas over the years because they do many of these things well. Oh, and they’re great daily drivers. Cybertruck for me is one truck that does it all. For others, it was a performance/Plaid Model S or 3-row Model X. For non-EV folks, it is a Toyota Tacoma or Chevy Suburban. All that said, if I can’t do any 1 of the above after my Cybertruck has run its course, I will move on and find another vehicle that can. I will not, and cannot compromise my life for sake of “autonomy”. Freedom and personal agency will always win. I just buy the right tool to get me there.

@rhensing Folks with families need 6 seats. I’m not going to split my family into 3 cybercabs to drive to see grandpa. Robovan doesn’t make sense. We love road tripping to my in-law’s etc. not taking a 30 seat vehicle there that’s for sure.

@Teslarati I’m a bit sad. People with families need big cars. Look at the drop off line at any school and you’ll see a caravan of large SUVs, trucks and minivans. We have an X because we need 6 seats!
