Welcome Home, Coach! The Pascagoula-Gautier School Board has approved the hiring of Zach Green to be the 34th Head Football Coach at Pascagoula High School. Pascagoula Athletic Director John Archie led the search committee for the Panther program after 15-year Head Coach Lewis Sims retired at the end of the 2025 season. "If you have a winning program and you want to keep winning it’s really simple. You just go get another winner,” Archie said. Green comes to the Flagship City after serving as the Defensive Coordinator at Gulfport High School for the past 3 seasons. His unit was ranked 1st in the state, holding opponents to 14 points per game this season and an average of 240 yards per game. He capped off his tenure at Gulfport by helping lead the Admirals to the school's first-ever State Championship over perennial 7A powerhouse Tupelo in the 2025 season. Coach Green is excited to be a part of the storied Pascagoula Football program and is excited for the opportunity to lead the Panthers. "This is a special place with championship potential. I’m excited to build a program rooted in toughness, accountability, and relentless effort,” Green said. “Our players will compete with confidence, prepare with purpose, and take pride in wearing Pascagoula across their chest. We’re going to work every day to raise the standard and compete for championships.” The Pascagoula Quarterback Club will host a community meet-and-greet with Coach Green in the coming days. Stay tuned for more information on the event. At Gulfport, Green's 2024 defense only allowed 14.5 points per game while holding opponents to an average of 267 yards per game. His defensive unit was only penalized 16 times through 11 games in the 2024 season. Prior to his time at Gulfport, Green was the Defensive Coordinator at Ocean Springs where the Greyhounds compiled a 32-5 over 3 seasons while winning back-to-back 7A region championships with back-to-back undefeated regular seasons. His defenses at Ocean Springs allowed 15.2 points per game in 2022, 16.7 points per game in 2021, and 14.8 points per game in 2020. Green has also served as a linebackers coach at Theodore High School (AL), special teams coordinator and linebackers coach at Biloxi High School, defensive coordinator and safeties coach at Talladega High School (AL), cornerbacks coach at the University of West Georgia, co-defensive coordinator at Nettleton High School, and a graduate assistant and linebackers coach at the University of West Alabama. He was a student assistant at Ole Miss during their back-to-back Cotton Bowl Championship seasons. Green is a member of the Mississippi Athletic Coaches Association and coached in the 2023 Bernard Blackwell North-South All-Star Game. He earned a bachelor's degree in social studies education from Ole Miss, a masters in secondary education from the University of West Georgia, and a specialist degree in educational leadership from Arkansas State University. He is also currently pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership from Liberty University.
