I feel terrible for the folks at CBS News Radio and entirely unsurprised that Bari Weiss is speedrunning the collapse of all things at CBS. CBS Radio singlehandedly changed American journalism. By the late-1930s, CBS Radio had more than a hundred affiliates throughout the country with bureaus in every major American city. Within a short time, the medium of radio went from providing short summaries of newspaper reporting to scooping print outlets on stories and often seeing their original reporting printed by newspapers without attribution. It was during World War II that CBS News, through radio, vaulted into global visibility. A young Edward R. Murrow delivered live, rooftop reports during the Blitz, a campaign of sustained bombing runs on London by Hitler’s Germany. His on-air descriptions of the carnage brought the war into American living rooms and helped build public opinion against the Third Reich prior to the United States entering the conflict immediately following Pearl Harbor. It was Mr. Murrow and his colleague Bill Shadel who were the first reporters to enter the Buchenwald concentration camp only days after it was liberated by the U.S. Army’s 6th Armored Division in April of 1945. Their reporting of the nightmarish state of the camp was soberly underlined by Mr. Murrow: "I pray you to believe what I have said about Buchenwald. I have reported what I saw and heard, but only part of it. For most of it I have no words... If I’ve offended you by this rather mild account of Buchenwald, I’m not in the least sorry." CBS Radio earned six Peabody Awards for their news coverage during World War II. This is a tragic and unnecessary closing chapter to a venerable institution.

Bari has singlehandedly destroyed CBS News All the CBS legends are spinning in their graves
Brian Stelter@brianstelter

A second memo from Bari Weiss and Tom Cibrowski says CBS News Radio is shutting down. Here's the memo: Today, we informed our CBS News Radio team and approximately 700 affiliated stations that we will end the service on May 22, 2026. Unfortunately, this decision means that all positions within the CBS News Radio team are being eliminated.  We understand how difficult this news is for our staff and their colleagues, who have worked side by side with us to cover some of the most significant stories of our time. While this was a necessary decision, it was not an easy one.  A shift in radio station programming strategies, coupled with challenging economic realities, has made it impossible to continue the service.  We are sharing this announcement now to fulfill our commitments to our radio partners and affiliates, which require advance notice of the service’s conclusion. For nearly 100 years, CBS News Radio has delivered original reporting to the nation—from Edward R. Murrow’s World War II reports in London to today’s daily White House updates.  Our signature broadcast, “World News Roundup,” remains the longest-running newscast in the country.  CBS News Radio served as the foundation for everything we have built since 1927. The coming weeks will be difficult for the team members who have worked tirelessly at CBS News Radio.  We are committed to supporting these valued colleagues with care and respect as we wind down operations.  They have been critical to our success and remain treasured friends and professionals.  We thank them deeply for their contributions. Thank you all for your dedication and for the compassion you show one another as we move forward. Bari and Tom

From Edward R. Murrow’s broadcasts to today, CBS News Radio has been part of the foundation of American journalism. Murrow’s mic sits on display at the National Press Club as a reminder of that legacy. When an institution like that disappears, it’s a loss for the public & for journalism.

My dad was a salesman & CBS News Radio was his traveling companion. When I was a reporter at WCBS-2, CBS News Radio would run audio of our TV stories. My dad knew I had made it as a successful journalist when he heard his son's voice on his favorite station between the 8s. RIP

Spring officially arrived on Friday, March 20, at 10:46 a.m. ET. For the next few months, days will get a little longer in the Northern Hemisphere — and shorter in the Southern Hemisphere. The new season signals warmer weather, and budding plants. abcnews.link/kXLbOFh

Some people are just online, scrolling through social media. Nobody’s texting them, they don't text anyone, no talking stage, no relationships, no crush and they don’t even care. 😂

February 1995, I taped an episode of "Walker, Texas Ranger" at Fair Park. My scene was with Sheree J. Wilson. The show aired on Ch. 4 when we were the CBS affiliate in North Texas. After the clip you'll see Mike Burger and the late John Criswell

I actually stopped posting weekly schedules after 2022 because it was clear that movies, PAW Patrol, and Friends are a bigger priority than giving screentime to their current shows. Even the schedule during the early Robbins era wasn’t this fucking boring.

Welcome to my world. Graphing NickSchedules used to be so exciting 5 years ago. I stopped graphing the side channels when they started becoming clones of the main channel (basically airing current shows and not be a rerun farm of their past shows, which they stopped after 2021)
Powersteel@Powersteel_

I'm considering to stop graphing current Nickelodeon schedules. I'm so close to quit. The schedule barely changes that it's hard to have patience. I can't keep doing this for long. I'll post the current ones a few more years depending on if they can have some exciting lineups.
