Project Overview
The Port House in Antwerp, completed in 2016, is one of the most remarkable examples of old and new meeting in a single piece of architecture. A restored historic fire station carries a contemporary structure above it that seems to float between ship, diamond, and cloud.
Design Highlights
1. Restored historic fire station as base with new contemporary volume above
2. Upper structure designed to appear floating, referencing ship, diamond, and cloud forms
3. Classical views of the building emphasize the contrast between heritage and contemporary architecture
