💢 NEW: Israeli forces detained a Gaza student at the Kerem Shalom crossing while he was traveling to Italy to continue his university studies, according to journalist Muthanna al-Najjar. The detainee, Mahmoud al-Najjar, is from Jabaliya in northern Gaza. His brother, Atiyya al-Najjar, said Mahmoud was arrested on Tuesday after finally securing permission to leave the Strip and travel to Tor Vergata University in Rome after months of efforts to obtain an exit permit. Mahmoud has published three academic research papers. He was reportedly taken to an unknown location, and his family has received no information about his condition or whereabouts. He is also the sole survivor of his immediate family.
