Maybe #SonicMovie4 will be a combination of two games - Sonic CD (time traveling, new characters like Amy and Metal Sonic) and Sonic Heroes (Neo Metal Sonic, bio-data copying, possibly the Master Overlord, maybe even the return of Team Chaotix).
Since Jim Carrey’s return has been confirmed, Eggman might actually be dead and replaced by Neo Metal Sonic. To save on CGI, Jim Carrey could play him in disguise until the final reveal, where he turns out to be Neo Metal Sonic in a super form or even the Master Overlord.
Throughout the movie, Metal could gradually copy the bio-data of all the characters, including Shadow, who might appear as the “cherry on top.” Similar to IDW #10, this could allow him to transform into the Master Overlord.
After all, Team Sonic aren’t the only ones who fought the Master Overlord - Shadow did as well in Shadow Generations.
