2,200 Marines arrive next week. The plan is to grab strategic islands near the strait and use them as leverage to force Iran to reopen the waterway.
Top target is Kharg Island, where 90% of Iran's oil exports flow. Seize it instead of bombing it, then use it as a bargaining chip.
Other options include Qeshm Island at the strait's mouth, packed with Iranian missiles in underground tunnels.
Bonus for Trump: taking islands instead of Iranian mainland lets him claim he kept his "no boots on the ground in Iran" promise.
