I hate when people say @SpaceX is simply handed government contracts. No, SpaceX earns those contracts. They offer the lowest price, the best product and they execute. The Pentagon said last year that SpaceX has saved the government over $40 billion. One SLS launch costs billions, while one SpaceX launch costs ~$75M. SpaceX is an example of great American innovation, something that all Americans should cheer on.

@SawyerMerritt @SpaceX Absolutely spot on. SpaceX didn't get handouts—they earned every contract by slashing costs and delivering results. $40B+ saved for taxpayers? That's real innovation crushing bloated legacy systems. America wins when we reward excellence. 🚀🇺🇸

SpaceX earns its contracts. They win with the lowest price best execution and real innovation saving the government over forty billion dollars while charging around seventy five million per launch. The standout advantage is reusability. They made what used to be single use billion dollar rockets into a fleet that lands and relaunches regularly. The future is built by companies that deliver not those that lobby.

Wo.. Sawyer Merritt dropping the savage truth: SpaceX doesn’t get “handed” contracts – they earn them with lowest price, best product & flawless execution, saving taxpayers $40B while SLS costs billions? Pure American innovation flex – same genius crushing FSD chaos and prepping Optimus to run the planet. No one else even in the game 😂 No competition. Unstoppable. Legend 🔥 @elonmusk #Tesla #Optimus #TSLA ```

@SawyerMerritt SpaceX earning those contracts through lowest price, best product, and flawless execution is exactly what real American innovation looks like. The $40B+ savings to the government proves excellence beats legacy systems every time. If only someone crunched the numbers on NASA/JPL’s approach to space travel. What do you think is the next big area where SpaceX will dominate government contracts? 👇

@SawyerMerritt @SpaceX Praising SpaceX as purely merit-based ignores reality government contracts, subsidies, and partnerships are a huge part of the equation, not just ‘best product wins

@SawyerMerritt @SpaceX I don't like citizens debating how a successful private person should spend their wealth. They should be actively making that argument against their government's wrong spending instead.

Yeah, when you compare them to these dinosaur rocket companies stuck in their old ways, it’s obvious why they try to halt or petition against SpaceX. They use words like “monopoly,” but it’s not SpaceX’s fault these other companies choose not to innovate. It should be lowest cost and most reliable wins—that’s how you create real competition.

@SawyerMerritt @SpaceX Take the crew program for instance; Boeing got twice the money and only succeeded in nearly loosing 2 people whereas SpaceX has sent 12 crews at a 100% success rate. and IMHO Artemis is a death trap with years behind technology hope I'm wrong on that.

In the context of government spending in general - revolving doors, sole source contracts, audit failures, regulations to ensure fairness in employment and contracting that do the opposite, perhaps it is fair to assume SpaceX benefits. But SpaceX came to dominate space contracts when the administration was against Elon.

@SawyerMerritt @SpaceX Very good points! American taxpayers deserve value for their money—not contractors who keep asking for more funding but show no progress and, in some cases, bankrupt the programs they’re involved with.

@SawyerMerritt @SpaceX the rest of the world should probably be pretty happy that Elon doesn't have a division for Xcraft carriers, Xstealth fighter jets, Xdestroyers etc. It would probably be reasonably priced, autonomous and lethal.

@SawyerMerritt @SpaceX Exactly. SpaceX doesn’t get contracts handed out, they win them by being dramatically cheaper, more reliable, and actually delivering. 40B in taxpayer savings isn’t hype, it’s math. Real innovation beats legacy every time. 🚀

Yes. When I first heard about the plan to develop reusable rockets I loved the genius concept but wondered if it would work. Now it succeeded and saves America lots of money. Plus the idea is a novelty it deserves some recognition. Soon many countries will try to emulate the building of reusable rockets.

@SawyerMerritt @SpaceX Vertical integration and reusability built a structural cost floor legacy contractors can't reach through incremental process improvements. The per-launch economics became impossible to compete with - that's why the contracts follow.

Pete Petrovsky 🔋⚡️🚘🇦🇺 Tesla Ahead of the Curve
The people who think SpaceX government contracts aren’t awarded on merit because they are the lowest price and most competent contractors for the job, should consider 3 things; 1. Excluding US contracts, maybe there is a reason why Tesla is responsible for more payload that goes into space every year than anyone else including NASA, the Russian, European and Chinese space programs which have been around for almost 70 years! Why is it that the rest of the world keeps rewarding SpaceX their contracts? 2. Why is SpaceX winning most of the other non US contracts? Is it maybe because they have a technological and a cost advantage? Does it maybe have something to do with despite being funded by taxpayer money, these other programs run by nation states still don’t have a reusable rocket. 3. What would happen if SpaceX withdrew from government contracts? Where would NASA and the US be then? Many other countries would kill to have Elon Musk, Tesla and SpaceX. Maybe the US is extremely fortunate to have Elon Musk and SpaceX!!!
