I sent this to my House rep, @tedlieu today: Hello Mr. Lieu, This year I will be paying a $4,502 CA tax penalty because I have opted out of health insurance that costs over $10,000 per year and instead have secured a catastrophic coverage plan that is outside the conventional health insurance companies. This is nothing but THEFT of my hard earned money. That $4,500 is two months of rent, or, it is less than my current "premium" for my catastrophic medical coverage, or it is 12 months of car payments, and so on. When California is being exposed for billions of dollars in fraud for hospice centers, daycare centers, and so much more, this unfair, unreasonable, useless, PUNISHMENT should be declared ILLEGAL by every politician who believes in fair market competition and the American Way.
