Beautiful review. The recent concerts of his that I’ve been fortunate enough to attend have had incredibly special musical moments, that brought me truly to tears. Even more lyricism than ever before. It’s also moving to watch orchestras supporting him - clearly they love him very much.

But see it was an interesting challenge. I had to convey everything with basically just my hands - which is largely the goal anyway. It wasn’t the situation I would choose, but I’m actually so proud and pleased how much the orchestra made of the situation. It’s darn fine playing - in spite of the harder circumstances

6 years ago I pioneered a new music series with the @edmsymphony - and as I expected it attracted not only our core audience, but a beautiful, diverse, and often very young new audience too. I’m so proud of how we brought great music to older and younger generations alike, and truly showed that orchestral music is for everyone. It’s my firm belief that championing new music is a crucial part of what we do - because an orchestra is an essential, living part of any healthy community, indeed the beating heart of it; and when we represent folks whose art reflects our lives, from a diverse range of backgrounds and lived experiences, we bring that relevance to the forefront.
