My Friday topic: Relearning your limits after an Autistic Burnout: After autistic burnouts, everything changes. You can't push through like you used to, because your old limits were built on masking and survival. Now your body is asking for something different: A life that actually fits you. 1) BURNOUT CHANGE YOU Before burnout, you might have been able to: ✅ Mask all day ✅ Say yes to everything ✅ Power through overwhelm But now ... you can't. 2) YOU WERE IN SURVIVAL MODE High - masking autistic folks often: ✅ Ignore sensory needs ✅ Push past shutdowns ✅ Tyr to " keep up " with neurotypical expectations Your old limits weren't your true capacity. 3) BURNOUTS FORCES YOU TO SLOW DOWN And in that slowing down, you start to notice: ✅ What actually feels good ✅ What drains you ✅ What you need to feel safe and regulated 4) RELEARNING LIMITS Can look like: ✅ Taking more breaks - even when your brain says "You should keep going" ✅ Saying no, even if you feel guilty ✅ Redefining productivity ✅ Choosing to rest before you hut a shutdown ✅ Creating routines that support your nervous system How have you encountered your burnouts?
