when i'm on my period, i literally analyze and reevaluate my ENTIRE life. i accepted that the critical inner monologue experienced during this phase is simply pattern recognition, and i started acting accordingly. i now do monthly review meetings with myself where i let my overly analytical brain run wild and make notes, adjustments, and complaints as freely as possible. in every area of my life. simply having an outlet for that self-critical energy helps immensely. i think a lot of women feel trapped by this part of their cycle because they've learned to associate it with nervous system dysregulation. the inability to look away from what you intuitively know needs fixing can feel overwhelming in its unavoidable nature, suffocating even. but i've learned that the less you resist the flow of this intense energy, the more it actually works for you. the truth is, we all become brutally honest with ourselves at least once a month. there is no way to avoid that. to be a woman is to be a cyclical creature. but this energy is not meant to destroy you, it's actually *supposed* to be alchemized. redirected. acknowledged. or else unproductive mental rumination kicks in and the brutal honesty that was meant to be moving you forward becomes the sharp end of a knife. your goal should never be to silence this natural mechanism, but to work with it, to allow it to exist and reshape you. the energy will be there every month regardless, you might as well just play around with it and see where it gets you. there's a reason this happens right at the end of your cycle: you are meant to recycle the old and release it, so that new energy can flow into your path, so that growth can be integrated and multiplied.
