New work from @AndyShih_Lab's group is incredible & shows that some of the in vivo imaging done to study neurovascular physiology is literally just "scratching the surface" as this deep imaging shows differences in flow regulation in deeper brain regions: nature.com/articles/s4159…

I am thrilled to share that the Bonney Lab will be opening its doors come January @CUAnschutz in the department of Anesthesiology! We will study perivascular pathology in cerebral small vessel disease using in vivo and ultrastructural imaging approaches.

What makes cerebral white matter more vulnerable with age? In this mouse study, we show that large and rare venules are bottlenecks for blood flow in the white matter. Deep branches of these venules are constricted with age, leading to reduced blood flow. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

@alankrit97 Thanks Alankrit. It's possible that some out of focus damage occurred, but if the concern was inadvertent, direct damage to arterioles, it is less likely. The selected capillary targets were not underneath pial vessels, and distant from the transitional zone in the x-y dimension.

@AndyShih_Lab Hi Dr. Shih, great work by your lab, again! I haven't gotten into the details of the study yet but I would assume that 100 mW power exposure at 200 um would cause damage to the surface vessels. Was that observed?
