Passion Patience Persistence
The diptych we're releasing with @clickcreateio tomorrow was created in March 2023, 5 years after trying to achieve it for the first time.
Here's part of the story💞
Once again thanks @cathsimard_ @GuyNorcal @Klutch_NFT & the whole team for this!

saw a tweet the other day saying artists with full time jobs make art to thrive, not survive and that's why they're successful in this space
i think this discredits the artists who have been full time before you paid attn to them
and its kind of a slap in the face imo, further enforcing the idea that art is a silly little hobby and not a respectable career path
if that works for you, fine -- but imo we should be empowering choices, not setting standards

At some point, in almost every successful artist’s career, there’s a point where the ego takes over.
« I’ve worked so hard to get here and went through so many hardships, surely I deserve to sell? »
« My work is so good it deserves to be in a museum and studied. »
This mentality, fed by an ego measuring success with sales/recognition and the feeling of being « deserving », is faulty and quite toxic.
We have been conditioned into thinking that success is a combination of notoriety and money.
Paired with a deep feeling of « being deserving », it is a dangerous cocktail that will inevitably lead to more negative feelings I.e worthlessnesses, sadness, anger, depression.
Should your art, your passion, make you feel this way?
It is all an illusion, controlled by your thoughts, creating your own reality, influenced by your ego.
The ego is an insatiable part of ourself. It is not inherently right or wrong, it is human.
The trick is to be self aware enough to know when your ego is influencing your thoughts, and learn to control it. Keep yourself in check.
So the next time you find yourself thinking « it should have been me » or « this piece should be sold », ask yourself, is it the love of your craft, your art talking, or is it your ego?

I don’t often share my personal life online as I try to keep it happy & full of art 🌊💙 but here is a life update 👇
7 months ago I suffered severe multiple breaks in my foot requiring surgery which turned out to be a very challenging time in my life. Non weight bearing for 3 months with a further 3 months in a moon-boot took its toll physically & mentally. As someone who was very active it was hard to physically cope with not walking or running.
Sadly, today whilst getting back into high intensity exercise I managed to damage a new ligament in the same foot. Disaster.
I always try to find something positive from a bad situation and this is no exception. Whilst I’m upset of another setback - you can bet your bags that I will come back better from this.
All the more time to create and share more art with you all - LFG 💙🫶🌊
