Malik Kambar was commander of the Assyro-Chaldean Christian Battalion under the French Army and a representative of the Assyrian delegation to the League of Nations. ⚔️ Malik Kambar (1888–1969) was one of the most prominent Assyrian leaders of the twentieth century and the hereditary Malik of the Jilu tribe of Hakkari. Following the Assyrian Genocide and the mass displacement of the Assyrian people during and after World War I, he emerged as an important military and political figure. As commander of the Assyro-Chaldean Battalion under French command in Syria, Kambar helped organize Assyrian volunteers and veterans who had survived war, exile, and persecution. Composed of volunteers from Hakkari, Urmia, Tur Abdin, Salamas, and other regions, the battalion brought together members of one Assyrian nation, known throughout history by various names and ecclesiastical designations, including Assyrian, Chaldean, and Syriac, in a common struggle for survival, security, and national rights following the collapse of the Ottoman Empire. 🛡️ The battalion played an important role in maintaining security and safeguarding displaced Assyrian populations during a period of instability in the aftermath of World War I. الملك شلمنصر الثالث - رسول الحسني يُعد شلمنصر الثالث أحد أبرز ملوك الإمبراطورية الآشورية ، وهو الملك رقم 112 في قائمة الملوك الآشوريين. تولّى الحكم بين عامي 858 و824 قبل الميلاد، واستمر عهده نحو 35 عاماً، ليكون من أطول عهود الملوك الآشوريين في تلك الحقبة، ولا يفوقه في مدة الحكم سوى الملك آشوربانيبال الذي حكم 42 عاماً. الاسم المعروف «شلمنصر» هو الصيغة التوراتية للاسم الأكدي الأصلي «شلُمانو-أشريد» (Šulmānu-ašarēdu)، ويعني «الإله شلُمانو هو الأول». وكان شلُمانو أحد ألقاب الإله أنليل، ثم ارتبط لاحقاً بالإله آشور في العقيدة الآشورية. وقد حمل هذا الاسم خمسة ملوك آشوريين آخرين، من أبرزهم شلمنصر الأول وشلمنصر الخامس. ورث شلمنصر الثالث العرش عن والده آشور ناصربال الثاني، واستطاع خلال فترة حكمه أن يعزز نفوذ الدولة الآشورية ويقودها إلى ذروة جديدة من التوسع العسكري. وتكشف النصوص المسمارية عن نشاطاته خلال 31 سنة من حكمه إضافة إلى سنة تتويجه. وخلال السنوات الست والعشرين الأولى كان يقود جيوشه بنفسه في الحملات العسكرية، قبل أن يتولى قائد الجيش «ديان آشور» قيادة الحملات اللاحقة بينما بقي الملك في العاصمة الآشورية كالخو ( النمرود حاليآ ) في نينوى شمال العراق شهد عهده نشاطاً عسكرياً مكثفاً، إذ سُجلت حملة عسكرية واحدة تقريباً في كل عام من أعوام حكمه المعروفة، باستثناء السنة الرابعة التي شهدت حملتين، ليبلغ مجموع الحملات المسجلة 33 حملة. وقد أسهمت هذه الحملات في ترسيخ الهيمنة الآشورية على مناطق واسعة من الشرق الأدنى القديم. ومن أهم الآثار المرتبطة بعهده المسلة السوداء لشلمنصر الثالث، وهي من أشهر الآثار الآشورية المكتشفة. وتوثق هذه المسلة انتصار الآشوريين على تحالف ضم اثنتي عشرة مملكة غربي نهر الفرات بقيادة الملك الآرامي بن هدد الثاني في معركة قرقور. كما تكتسب المسلة السوداء أهمية تاريخية خاصة لأنها تُعد أقدم شاهد أثري معروف يذكر العرب بصورة واضحة، إذ يرد فيها ذكر شعب يُدعى «عريبي» (Aribi) أي العرب إلى جانب ملكهم جندبو العربي، الذي شارك ضمن القوى المتحالفة ضد آشور. ولذلك تُعد هذه الإشارة من أقدم الإشارات المدونة للعرب في المصادر التاريخية القديمة كما أنها تحدد موطن العرب في منطقة غرب الفرات
