Part of our “road to EVA” is trying on our spacesuit and making sure everything is adjusted just right! Last week @astro_hathaway helped me suit up, just as he will again for @Astro_ChrisW and me on Wednesday’s spacewalk. 🛰️ Join us live as we step outside the @Space_Station! 🗓 March 18 📺 Watch on NASA+, Amazon Prime, or the @NASA YouTube channel ⏰ Live coverage begins at 6:30 a.m. ET 👩‍🚀 Spacewalk scheduled to begin around 8 a.m. ET

Exp 74 spent Monday gearing up for this week’s planned spacewalk, prepping spacesuits and configuring tools. Some crew members also worked routine station maintenance and monitored their heart health. More… go.nasa.gov/3P3ud3D

.@Astro_ChrisW and I are getting pumped for next week’s spacewalk, the first of Expedition 74! Our main task will be to complete the install of an “IROSA mod kit,” which will serve as the mounting plate to attach a @Space_Station Roll-Out Solar Array (IROSA). This new, compact, roll-out solar array will augment the aging ISS arrays by providing a significant boost to the existing power system. Here we are practicing building the mod kit inside the LAB… Always useful since we will lose a lot of our dexterity once we are in the pressurized volume of our spacesuits!

Another day on the @Space_Station brings the departure of another vehicle, the last of our 3 cargo vehicles on the US Operating Segment (USOS). Today we bid farewell to the @northropgrumman Cygnus NG-23 cargo vehicle, named after our late colleague NASA astronaut Willie McCool. As I watched Cygnus disappear over the horizon, I took a moment to reflect and honor Willie, and all of the STS-107 crew, who honorably gave their lives in their effort to advance science and space exploration. Godspeed S.S. William “Willie” C. McCool, thank you for your service! 📷 — The Northrop Grumman Cygnus NG-23 cargo vehicle sits grappled by the @csa_asc Canadarm, awaiting its release. This cargo vehicle delivered valuable scientific experiments, hardware and supplies for all of us on the ISS. At the end of its mission, it is now full of trash which will burn up in the atmosphere.

Some of our weekend time on @Space_Station is spent doing normal Earthly things like haircuts, but of course with the added excitement for the vacuum of space…a literal vacuum attached to our hair clippers to catch all of the cuttings! I brushed off my space haircutting skills and put them to the test on @astro_hathaway, but don’t worry, I would never actually let him touch my space hair, I love it too much!

On my first mission I completely fell in love with space photography - tough not to when you’re graced with this kind of unique perspective of viewing all that Earth has to behold from above. I’ve been so happy to bust out the array of impressive lenses that we have up here once again, and this time with even better cameras (Nikon Z9, vs the D5 from my previous mission). I was lucky enough to capture some pretty good aurora (northern lights, here over Alaska and Canada) on my first timelapse attempt of the mission, stay tuned for more! Hoping for some impressive solar events to put on a fascinating show like the ones a few months ago.

Apologies for the background noise, life on @Space_Station is loud! Without daily exercise on the ISS, we would lose significant muscle mass and bone density, since we don’t have the daily loading on our bodies that Earth’s gravitational environment provides. We have the ARED 🏋️‍♀️ (Advanced Resistive Exercise Device), an engineering marvel that can be configured into a large number of weight lifting exercises, a cycle ergometer 🚲 (think a stationary bike with no handlebars and no seat — not needed in space!), and a treadmill. 🏃‍♀️ I started exercise right away, and it was so cool. Complete muscle memory! Really feels like I never left. Here’s a peek into our daily exercise routine!
