But the entire discussion across the timeline was that Messi fans hate Ronaldo more than they love Messi, and would rather see Ronaldo fail to win the World Cup, even if it means Argentina gets knocked out early. I'm sure the writer of the tweet I responded to wouldn't have made that observation in a vacuum, without that ongoing discussion. But hey, let's not argue with the common-sense specialist. Maybe it was just divine intuition that made him suddenly start talking about football loyalty on the eve of Ronaldo's exit.

I don't need to tell grown men on X who is arrogant or humble (might use it in argument, but it's really none of my concerns) All I'm saying is that, for grown men, logic should be the foundation of hate, love, and loyalty. Our logic doesn't have to align, but it should be consistent, linear, and stepwise. My logic is that nobody is more deserving of a World Cup than Ronaldo, and I genuinely want him to win one. At the same time, Ronaldo winning the World Cup wouldn't make him better than Messi, and not winning it wouldn't diminish his place as one of football's top four GOAT.

The coach turned him to an immovable problem and Ronaldo played along (or maybe it's the other way round, doesn't matter) Yes, he likes to play, but he's featured in six World Cups spanning 20 years. Even he should know when to play less and allow the younger players more minutes by communicating that to a star-struck coach.

Can't take your football opinions seriously if you think Ronaldo was Portugal's problem at this World Cup. It's either your dislike for him has fully clouded your sense of judgement or you no just know wetin you dey talk.

Lewa e.t.c did not play in this world cup actually. But to answer your question with another question: the real question isn't whether other strikers outshine him in training. The question you and others, including those like Martinez who think they like Ronaldo or believe benching Ronaldo would be disrespectful should ask is: What role gives a 41-year-old the best chance to compete against younger defenders? And ultimately, would that role make him more impactful for the team?
