It is with a heavy heart that after a tumultuous rollout, I must announce that I am stepping down as Ye comm leader During my brief tenure in this position has come many hardships and obligations that I rose to the occasion for where simply no other person could have. This role is not one for the weak. It has strengthened me in every way imaginable. Whilst leading the community through dry seasons, listening parties, delays, campaigns for unreleased albums, and scares of AI, I have accomplished so much in my small amount of time. There must be someone to rise to the occasion to take this position from me. This role selects its leader, not due to a grab for power, but from the vacuum of leadership that this community and artist demand. I was thrust into this position and strived to pave the way for many after me. This was done through my diligent efforts in ANY comment section where the main post deadnamed Ye. Despite what many may think, this is not an optional thing. People may say “oh well it’s my choice to call him what I want”. I see this as “I am bringing this man who pushed culture forward for 20 years now, BACK into slavery”. His deadname is his slave name. That simple. By you calling him by his deadname, you are asserting yourself as his master. You think you are Ye’s master? Get a fucking reality check. I say this to display the kind of thought process someone in my position must adopt to lead the community effectively. Take note A similar situation arises when it comes to the AI situation. Many demanded snippets for proof that the re-records were done. Me? I simply trust the word of our brave representatives at Yeezy. Why? Because the receive command from THE boss. That boss is who we must advocate for and his word rules supreme. So who are you to tell THE boss you don’t believe him. Get a hold of yourself. My exact reasoning for stepping down cannot be condensed into the english lexicon, but I will try my best. It is not simply that i cant take the pressure, I can. It is that I feel I have set plenty of examples for the youth to look at what I have done, take note, trust the process, and have this ideology exist without me in it. This was never about me, it was never about the attention, it was never about the clout. I simply wanted my ethos to quench the thirst the community needed and for them to desire that each and every day. With that desire, it becomes natural, almost automatic, for others to rise to the occasion of being the comm leader after me.
