The Lephinmore ‘station’ was situated in the upper reaches of the Firth of Clyde, and according to the “location-specific long-term averages” Met Office database it can supply monthly temperature readings along with rainfall amounts going back to 1960. This supply can be considered a modern scientific wonder given that the actual station closed five months before England won the World Cup in 1966. The real scandal lies elsewhere: in the fact that Western/NATO intelligence services were wiretapping the Hungarian foreign minister’s phone, and are now laundering those recordings through intelligence-linked, state-funded front organisations like VSquare, with the explicit aim of preventing Orbán’s re-election or delegitimising it after the fact. The strategy is transparent: construct a narrative of “stolen” or “illegitimate” elections, then use it to marginalise — or worse — one of the few governments that refuses to toe the European war party’s line. But Hungary is merely the immediate target. The longer-term goal is to weaponise the Orbán precedent to finally abolish the unanimity rule in EU foreign policy decisions, completing the consolidation of the Euro-Atlantic oligarchic class over the continent.
