@chazzerrobo when fae asked to switch to the Japanese audio half way through the first episode. We both found the Westwood Studios 0079's dub to be fairly solid (even if no Here Comes Char is a tragedy) and just wish they could have bought back Brad Swaile, Michael Kopsa, Chris Kalhoon etc.

@chazzerrobo I feel similarly. There's some bang out performances, but most of the cast falls flat and it just feels uneven over all. I actually have a fondness for the orchestral dub OP too. But I'm in the middle of a rewatch with my partner (faer first viewing) and I couldn't blame faer-

@Richmond_Lee Jotaro didn't click with me until I realized just how much of a huge dork he is. Once you get past the tough guy act, he's genuinely endearing. Not my favorite jojo, but my favorite "fight" in the whole series is still him vs D'arby the Gambler.

@kitsuneredFES @amen_handle I suspect people just forget it's void/null in Nocturne and IV and just resistence in Apocalypse instead of reflect and thus associate those with the meme. But luckily I've seen at least one Girimehkala variant.

@unkissedyuri I try to be open when giving a first look, doubly since I've seen cases of "male" yuri mangaka just turning out to be trans women. But I'm not gonna pretend I haven't checked & given a female mangaka the benefit of the doubt or made that a factor on if I'm continuing a series.

@CharaSoon I've tried controller too and never got a feel for it. Since I was needing to replace my mouse anyway, what I ended up doing was getting one of the cheaper MMO mice. Had to change my toolbars but I could still click while I was getting to used to the buttons.

and that video hangs in my head because I see mecha in the context of gaming as similar to horror, more of a thematic and aesthetic genre label not necessarily tied to any specific type of gameplay. A good mecha game can be practically anything. It's like "no you almost get it!"

Unironically I think it's one of those case of creative inbreeding, where something like Armored Core was informed by decades of development of vehicle action games and simulators, while indie devs are entirely inspired by (Youtube footage of) Armored Core 4
