What you are seeing is a repeating pattern across the entire Web3 industry: projects get overinflated before mainnet, and once they launch, they collide with reality. This collapse usually happens because of broken token economics, lack of real product value, investor pressure, and the misconception that mainnet is the end of the journey, while in reality mainnet is the beginning of the real struggle. Mainnet is not the end; it is the start of the chaos. Before mainnet everything is a promise: high TPS on testnet, a large community driven by airdrops, and investors who are happy because tokens are still locked. But after mainnet, real users must show up, real developers must build, real money must enter the ecosystem, and real network problems must be solved. Ninety percent of projects cannot handle this stage. After the airdrop, token supply unlocks, demand is weak, ambassadors and airdrop hunters sell immediately, and because there is no real utility, the price collapses. When the token collapses, the community disappears, developers leave, and the team enters defensive mode. VCs are patient before mainnet, but after mainnet the unlocks begin and real KPIs must be delivered. When the team cannot deliver them, the project enters panic mode. Most projects do not solve any real problem. Ninety percent of blockchains solve nothing meaningful. They all came with the slogan of “higher speed,” but speed is not the real problem of Web3. The real problems are UX, economics, security, developer tooling, and real use cases. When a project only sells “TPS,” it collapses after mainnet. Most teams think mainnet is the finish line, while mainnet is actually day zero. The ecosystem must be built, the SDK must mature, developers must be onboarded, and real use cases must emerge. But teams get tired after mainnet, motivation drops, and the project slowly fades away. Ninety percent of blockchains do not solve any real problem. Aptos, Sui, Somnia, Sei, Near, and even Solana in its early years all came with the promise of “more speed,” but speed is not the core issue in Web3. The real issues are UX, economics, security, developer tools, and real use cases. When a project only sells TPS, it inevitably collapses after mainnet.
