As of January 2026, all mined-out areas at Base Titanium have been fully planted, marking a significant milestone in the mine closure process. The project has now progressed into the "monitoring and gapping" phase.

Through our world class rehabilitation programme and partnerships that strengthen conservation outcomes, we continue to demonstrate that responsible mining and environmental stewardship can go hand in hand.

We were pleased to host a team from the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) at the Base Titanium minesite for a tour of our rehabilitated areas, including the Central Dune, Tailings Storage Facility (TSF), the Biodiversity corridor and our indigenous tree nursery.

We also highlighted legacy infrastructure designed to deliver lasting benefits beyond mining, including the Mukurumudzi Dam, now supporting water supply through Coast Water, and the newly opened Mwaloya Road, which enhances access and connectivity for surrounding communities.

During the visit, the delegation toured the rehabilitated North and Central Dunes as well as the Tailings Storage Facility (TSF), gaining a first-hand view of how previously mined land is being restored for sustainable future use.

We were honored to host the Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry, Hon. @GovLeeKinyanjui Kinyanjui, along with a team from the Special Economic Zones Authority, at Base Titanium for a site tour showcasing our mine rehabilitation progress.

P.S Abubakar attended a presentation on our world-class rehabilitation program and took part in an engaging discussion on post-mining land use and potential future opportunities.

Base Titanium welcomed Hon. @PSAhassan, Principal Secretary, Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry – State Department for Investment Promotion, to the Kwale minesite.

During the launch, Cabinet Secretary Hon. @HassanAliJoho also announced the gazettement of regulations to operationalise the disbursement of 10% of mining royalties to host communities - a significant win for mining communities across the country.

Base Titanium extends its appreciation to the Post-Mining Land Use (PMLU) Committee for its rigorous, consultative, and evidence-based work, which has helped position Kwale as a national reference point for responsible mine closure and post-mining transition.

The Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs @MiBeMa_2022 has officially launched the Advisory Report on Post-Mining Land Use (PMLU) for the Base Titanium Kwale Mineral Sands Project.

More exciting moments from the opening leg of the East Africa Classic Safari Rally 2025 hosted at our Kwale Mine Site today!

From here, the rally continues beyond the mine as drivers tackle a range of terrains across the region. We wish all participants a safe and successful race!

We are delighted to host the opening leg of the East Africa Classic Safari Rally 2025 here at our Kwale Mine Site today. The route winds through the North, Central, and South Dune areas of the site, offering great views of our world class rehabilitation program.

This model has also been implemented in Kwale County, where Base trained local community groups, helped them establish nurseries, and buys grass and tree seedlings from them for mine site rehabilitation and mangrove restoration.

Recently, Base partnered with Narok South residents from Kirobon Community Based Organisation, who benefited from training in tree nursery management and beekeeping, to plant 5,000 seedlings.

In 2021, Base Titanium adopted 84 acres of land in the Maasai Mau Forest through the Government of Kenya's “Adopt a Forest” initiative.
