🚨 DAMN.
Ruby Bridges said the moment she finally understood what was happening during school integration was when a little white boy told her:
“My mom said I can’t play with you because you’re a nigger.”
She was SIX.
And she said hearing that felt like “a huge weight lifted,” because suddenly everything made sense.
Why the classrooms were empty.
Why adults were screaming.
Why U.S. Marshals had to escort her to school.
Not because of anything she did.
Just because of the color of her skin.
A six-year-old child realizing an entire country was angry at her for existing.

@Viennajeff60 @MoveTheSticks Well… I enjoyed it. Only Speaking for myself as an American
English

@BenjaminSWatson @MoveTheSticks Neither team trying to score or even advance the ball and decided by PK's? That's one of the big reasons Americans don't like soccer.
English

@sean_fagan_1 @MoveTheSticks They almost pulled it out in regulation after going up early. That penalty kick tied it up. I didn’t see the shot count but they seemed to press as much as PSG did offensively
English

@BenjaminSWatson @MoveTheSticks It was tense … as Arsenal fan I think they defended admirably but they needed more on the ball going forward 2 out pressure on PSG.

@washingtonpost @esglaude Can we get the forever ago promised Tubmans first?

Breaking news: Trump administration officials have pressed the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to design a $250 bill featuring the president’s portrait, in what would be the first appearance of a living person on U.S. currency in more than 150 years. wapo.st/4dQNsGj

His playoff record says otherwise.

Lane Kiffin says Ole Miss would’ve reached the national championship game if he’d coached the playoff, with Pete Golding in booth. ‘What are you going to argue?’ That, plus 6 other takeaways from Kiffin’s interview with @usatodaysports. usatoday.com/story/sports/n…

"Ten years ago, I walked onto this set not fully knowing what the journey would become. Today, I walk away knowing it became one of the most meaningful chapters of my life."
Thank you for making our Saturday mornings that much better, @LauraRutledge. We will miss you 💙 spr.ly/6011B8p8x5

@BenjaminSWatson One day we gonna have a talk about how the Gullah people are the real creators of black American culture but yall ain’t ready
English

One of the earliest Memorial Day observances took place in Charleston in 1865, when newly freed Black Americans honored fallen Union soldiers with proper burials, hymns, flowers, and a 10,000-person procession.
Today we continue that annual tradition recognizing that our freedom and liberty has always come with sacrifice. Remember the fallen, pray for their families, and recommit ourselves to building a nation worthy of that sacrifice. May we all take time to pause and honor those who lost their lives in service to this nation. 🇺🇸

Bot? Or not? 🤔 what yall think?

@BenjaminSWatson You're a fucking idiot!
English

@WillLewis_1976 I hear you 💯. Your analysis of the president is similar to my own. But I also know people who support him for a variety of reasons. I also know people who did support him and upon discovering some of the things you mentioned, changed course. Im not sure where Jaxson is on that.
English

You ever think it isn't just about politics?
It's about a teammate who is supporting a President that has started wars in multiple countries, openly hates Muslims (Abdul Carter is Muslim), has called the Epstein sex trafficking ring a hoax, and who openly calls women and people of color names.
Maybe you should show a little more self-respect and stand up for the women and people of color that Trump openly insults.
People are quick to jump to this being ALL political, and not about Trump the person. Trump has zero respect for people like Carter and his family, and Dart just cosigned for Trump by being there and so excited about it.
English

The football impact of Jaxson Dart’s decision to introduce POTUS depends on the health of the Giant’s organization culture. The locker room is like any other workplace. Employees have different religious and political affiliations. However, in the league there is an openness and willingness to engage with those who think differently. Success on the field is often the direct result of trust and transparency between the lines and beyond. Every team member has the right to believe what they want and support who they want and a responsibility to do so in a way that honors their convictions and respects the other members. Whether it was Trump or Biden a healthy culture is transparent enough to be unfazed by the outside noise and committed enough to address any concerns internally. - Harbaugh’s first culture test.
For those who didn’t want to read all that: Dart’s decision was his. Some teammates will question others will support but delivering the ball on time and converting 3rd down is more important. They know him, we don’t.
